Skirting board colour - honest opinions welcome!

Please could I have some honest feedback. It may not be to everyone's liking, but does the colour of the skirting board against this wooden floor work from a colour perspective? The walls are to stay white. I've only done two rooms. I like the colour, but I'm not usually bold enough to go for anything other than white!

Its a little hard to tell from the picture if thats a grey/green or brown do you have the name of the colour so we can see what it is?

Thank you. The colour is Nomad from Coat Paints, it's an olive colour. The floor is Ted Todd Smoke. The floor is a mixture of brown, green and a little bit of blue.

OK all, I have a website!! http://www.lucianastatues.com/ It's almost finished, I haven't started on the blog or added an 'About' page, as I'm not sure what to write yet. It went live a couple of days ago but then had some glitches, and the absent-minded geek (I have his approval to call him that) who made the site told me not to advertise it until he takes care of them. Everything is working now; I could say I have 2 websites, as he built another one for me initially that I didn't like that much. It was probably the wet dream of a webdesigner, with lots of features and pop-ups and hexagonal inserts (don't ask...!) but just too fancy for my needs. So I told him to keep it simple, sat down with him for a few hours and hurray!! - I think he's done a great job. This site is just straightforward and easy in my opinion, simple to use and with large photos that help with seeing the details. I would appreciate some feedback though, so please let me know what you think. I'm still not sure about prices, I mostly charge by how tall the figure is and how much I like it:)). Next week is gallery touring, I'm going to Birmingham tomorrow to a craft fair, but mostly to look and maybe buy supplies, not to sell http://www.thenec.co.uk/whatson/hobbycrafts# My main problem at the moment is that I ran out of stock! :)) I sold a few more things, but they were commissioned, so they don't appear on the site. Didn't have time to make a lot of new pieces, so some of the stuff that's there is mostly things I would've liked to keep or had on reserve, but now decided to sell them. I knew starting all this will leave me less time to play...... Plus my geek gave me a task list with stuff to do to promote the website, and I'm supposed to write that blog every couple of days..... Anyway, my gratitude again for your help and support. As I said, I'd appreciate some feedback on the site. Hi. It looks a lovely hall. I might look at warm yellow based neutral for the walls. I'd move the cabinet and mirror to where the coats are as I think it looks much more welcoming with your flowers etc ( I might potentially paint the cabinet as MATH said). I'd put a coat cupboard where the cabinet was. It may not be your style but I'd look at a pale painted French armoire with mirrored doors. I think a bench with cushions etc would look nice under the window and somewhere to perch. The rug looks great but agree with MATH it it sucking up the light whereas the wood floor is bouncing some. I also agree re the light as the shade is restricting light and perhaps look at the bulbs used. If in budget You could look at adding wall lights. I also agree with Kikiamack's comments.

Thanks for all the comments. In reference to drawing attention to it, it's a fair point but isn't it a bit like a skirting board? Dark wall, white skirting board, stands out. We all do it. White walls with white skirting board would look odd, no? Personally, I like the dark grey pelmet (by the way, ignore the units below, there's no worktop on them at the moment) partly because it's not doing what is always done and partly because it does act a bit like an underline. My more important other half, however, prefers the light grey. She's the boss so she wins :/

Re infills - I meant if they remove the skirting and you had some spare flooring, you can put small pieces in to cover the larger gaps. However they would have to be glued in place as they might not stay put being so thin. Also need to leave the expansion gap still so it might not be worth it. I think get some ideas on weighing up the cost of buying thin profile beading to match the floor to put around all the skirt or, look to replace the skirting with a thicker one. Beading looks fine and no one will know that you didn't just put the floor down after the skirting was already there. At least it will be uniform. Beading isn't cheap though so get a price for both

for me it doesn’t quite sit right, maybe it’s just quite harsh against the white walls, or slightly the wrong tone. but it doesn’t look totally wrong so if you like it stick with it!

I really like your front door colour against the flooring so personally I would carry that on to the skirting boards and banisters.

The floor looks quite purple/red/ brown which is the opposite of green (skirting board colour) and so they accentuate each other. The darkness of it works but the strength of colour may be slightly off. The front door colour might be better.

I’m inclined to agree: the colour of the front door would work better with the tones of the floor. Gorgeous door, by the way!
