Design Dilemma Storage Bedrooms

bedroom panelling - assistance required!

We have an 100 year old house. Great with fabulous high ceilings (but no storage) I’d like to get panelling in bedroom but not sure what style to go for. Furniture is all changing to white (open to style) but storage is a must.

Hi Sadif, paneling give a distinctive touch to every interior. What could help me in this case, would be seeing other rooms pictures so we can try to get the same feel throughout the whole house. With regards to the storage options, you can try thinking of an ottoman bed.

Should you wish to go for bespoke headboard with integrated storage let me know.

Panelling is lovely isn’t it? Panelling behind that bed is very popular at the moment. If there is room you can add wardrobes on the opposite wall and a dressing table in front of the window. There are loads of panelling pictures on Pinterest. Here’s just a few.

Hi, in that space I would put a nice relaxing framed print and beneath it a shaker style shelf with pegs to hang pretty scarves or hats or bags. I have one in my utility room between two cupboards and it gives a lovely feel to the room as well as being useful. Mirrors are not good feng shui opposite a bed and although shoe storage is great it might be too much between the wardrobes. Pretty colours!

We were on our way to removing the RH long bit to make the desk straight but stopped here at a half-way house position - just to consider it. We do a lot of procrastinating in my house!! Means retaining the large corner space. Needs a new top, obvs and in a different shape, probably curved? What do you think? Now got a fair bit of free wall. Daughter likes it:) Electrician comes next week so we need to decide this weekend.

Still here! I have a feeling the back of the wardrobes will need to be solid for the wall paper to work, to give you a solid backdrop. Maybe thin ply wood fitted to the back. In one photo your bed shows up beautifully against the blue, however if there were too many lines - the bed, the cross sections of the wardrobe - it won't work well. The drapes would also show up better with the dark backdrop. Maybe try it out with painted large sections of card, stuck together to give a solid field, painted a dark blue before investing in the wall paper? Seeing the pic above gives me confidence that the dark 'feature' wall behind the bed is the way to go to give your room a focus. If you put a backing on the wardrobe, you may just be inclined to paint - which would give the option to change your accent more readily.

I like all of Sonia’s images and have 2 of those! it depends if you want to work with the architecture of the house re style? Something rectangular in shape would accentuate the ceiling height whereas something square may (!) make the room feel wider

Thanks everyone - the other rooms in the house are pretty different but as I have the master bedroom I wanted to create a wow factor. How would gloss white furniture look in a bedroom?
