A large dark room. any ideas how to make it into a boutique style bedroom

Adding mirrors can give a more boutique feel to your room. Mirrors can open up the space and make the appearance a lot brighter too

I think that bedrooms don’t have to have vast windows as privacy and coziness are desirable in a bedroom.

But large rooms can feel sparse so so create a boutique feel I think you have to major on textures and fill the room.

Consider panelling a wall or using wall paper. Add detailing such as cornice or a fireplace. Have sumptuous soft furnishings - meaning floor length a full curtains, thick soft carpets, beautiful beddings. Well matched furniture, several light sources, all help and a mirror helps too.

Find some images of rooms you like and then copy what they have done

North facing bedrooms are not easy to decorate. Personally I wouldn't try to make it lighter with colour or wallpaper. There are lots of examples of dark wall colours in north facing bedrooms, the designer Miles Redd is doing it very well. The key to your room is good lighting. Spotlights, statement chandelier, oversized table lamps on either side of the bed, a floor lamp for the dark corner would be my starting points. In terms of colour go for what makes you smile and feel good for you. Bold colours are always a good choice pink, teal, purple even navy blue. When using bold colour balance it out with lots of white. For example on your bedcover, cushions, pillow, curtains, small armchair and even a rug. Wall cover finish should be gloss rather than matt. Hi, Like your colour choice but possibly the palest of pinks may be worth a consideration. I've had peach for years and it really is a dated look (or am I just sick of the sight of it? Possibly) Lighting is what we do best, but I thought I'd chip in as I've recently been inspired by a lovely colour combination that's on my wish list. You'll find it in our lovely blog article. Dulux and other colour charts have an LRV (Light Reflectance Value) number for each colour which is a percentage. Brilliant white would be about 98% you can download the charts to get an idea but remember that the colour you see on your monitor may not be the same as the real clour of the paint unless it is calibrated in the orrect colour space. The LRVs however, will help to give you some direction. Also consider mirrors to lighten the room as it going to have wardrobes in it.

I would look at Jitney or Oxford Stone F&B. I have used both recently. Jitney is darker and can look like a pale terracotta brownish pinky colour. very interesting and hard to define. Oxford Stone is slightly lighter and a really lovely taupey neutral. This is Jitney below and Oxford Stone below that.

Agree with Jonathan. Do not agree with adding lots of mirrors. If it's a big room then also add in a seating area - two small sofas or chairs, side tables, footstool maybe. Somewhere that guests could sit and relax away from the rest of the house if they so fancy. Add plenty of throws and blankets too, to add those layers of texture and luxury. Fresh flowers, magazines, interesting books and art, nice water carafe and glass also good to accessorise the room with, maybe even a comfort pack like spare toothbrush and some mini bath products, lovely towels and bathrobe - all those little things that make it feel like a boutique hotel for your guests to stay in. Don't make it so nice they never want to leave though!

Add a sofa, oversized light, tons of texture but keep the colour palette muted.

What theme and style of furnishings do you like and what size is the room ? Are you wanting boutique hotel or vintage boutique style ? And what is your budget ? If you can upload a picture of the bedroom might be able to get more of an idea :)
