Advice for a tight hallway - open plan or not?

I have a very awkward entrance hallway and I’m about to start a kitchen renovation and someone suggested that I also change the entrance.
Would welcome some ideas. Thank you
The hallway is tight and has 2 separate doors leading into the lounge which makes the lounge uneven and awkward. It’s not effectively used as there is half a wall in between. I don’t know if you get the sense but maybe the photo helps.
Q. Should I remove both the walls around the hallway and have the entrance right in the lounge ? I feel it’s too exposed ? Doesn’t feel right to me but at the same time the space is not functional.
