Design Dilemma Dining Rooms Kitchens

Kitchen beams - will they look OK? Any advice?

We're a week into building and I've been reminded (should have looked more carefully at the structural engineers doc) that we'll have 3 steels in the space to support. I wondered if there were any ideas about how to make the ceiling look as sensible as possible with them. Lower any part of the ceiling? Leave them as is? I haven't looked in to concealing them yet.

Your ceiling height and if any of its a pitched roof might make it difficult/impossible for a lowered ceiling, but assuming that you have the headroom then your builder may well be happy to quote for the additional works now rather than later, the extra costs incurred may be a factor in your decision making.

Make sure your kitchen design is fully resolved in anticipation of associated appliances lighting etc. Fix your electrical layout well ahead of time to exacting details, consider the specification of your appliances and 'future proofing' your on electrical design, for any additional demands you may have in the future. Consider that the best look may be achieved by an area in the kitchen where some electrical wiring can be hidden to avoid over complicating the design lines of your kitchen. Consider your obligations under Part P and find out what additional accessories may be required to meet compliance which you may not have initially considered; obtain this info. from an advised and detailed elec design and make sure those additional boxes etc. are available in a compliant form which meet your design intent. Hi, We got white kitchen with copper profiles. I like to add some colour to this kitchen . I am thinking to go with copper turquoise mixed splashback with turquoise chairs . Will that look odd ? Or shall I go with only grey or copper. Is it very difficult to get tiles in that colour . Where is the best place to find those colour tiles . Sorry for asking so many questions. Hi Preethi! You definitely have the space to create the rooms that you want. There are lots of ways you can do this. The main thing is to get clear on what you need and want from each of these rooms - how you want to use them and what the flow needs to be from one space to another for you to be able to enjoy living in your home with ease. Thank you all for the interesting comments to clarify why the door can’t move , this is the existi layout. we’ll divide the snug in 2 and move the loo there and have space for a laundry room/ pantry. that’s a dark and cold room. I personally think plastered and painted steels look totally fine, and add a bit of character and interest. I wouldn’t sacrifice ceiling height to hide them. (My old kitchen had one and I hardly noticed it.)
