Which type of expert should I engage with for an honest solution?

I just bought a house to share with my three teenage kids that is quite old (late 19th century), it has quite a bit of damp issues because the grounds around the house has been built up over the years by different owners. Water is coming in through the 'air' bricks which I think is the main problem for damp. I've had quotes from damp specialists and builders who are telling me what I think are only partial solutions which do not give me the confidence to go ahead with fixing it.

Also, the house is very drafty and very cold, most windows and doors are very tired. The kitchen and bathroom both need renovations. Because I need advice on so many fronts (damp issues, options to make the house warmer, kitchen & bathroom renovations, design of the kitchen to feel more welcoming rather than just being used for cooking, etc..) for the house I do not know if I need an architect, interior designer or something in between that can help me with both the outside and the inside issues as well as dragging it into the 21st century!

What would people's advice be?
