Bedroom help please!
Hi All, Here:'s my dilemma. My daughter is 12 wants a revamp of her room, room is small . I moved around the furniture in her room so I could make the headboard wall the feature wall. So please disregard the mess ( and the phot of her sleeping)and uneven painted walls as this is a WIP. She has chosen the wallpaper she wants which I think i am going to put it up on framed panels. Thinking of getting her a small double bed so the framed wallpaper panel look nice an upholstered headboard and two matching side tables, new chandelier style lighting. The TV unit will be hang up by the wall where it is at the moment. The unit on the left hand side of the bed will go when she clears the stuff inside. I always get dimensions and the finishing touches wrong so would appreciate any advice tip any of you would offer.i am going in the right direction would you get the double bed and what colour/style of bedside tables, colour of wall should I get, what accessories go with the wallpaper. measure the width of the wall against which the bed head will go, you’ll need approx 125-130cm for a small double bed and whilst bedside tables come in a variety of widths 49cm wide is a rough guide. Dunhelm have one in right now called the Lynton.
Are you framing the wallpaper in panels? ive attached an example image below. if so to make the room feel bigger paint the remainder of the room in one colour, including ceiling skirting boards architraves and door and id also recommend painting your bedsides in the same colour but a lighter shade, so for example if you were to go with a pale pink similar to the background in the paper sample, then paint the bedsides in a white that has a subtle touch of pink.
Finally to add a hint of glamour and warmth try a few gold accessories, maybe a gold framed mirror? (ideally a circular one, in a square room with square panels and striaight edges all around, it really works to put something circular in the room)xx

Comments (12)Hi Claire, Do the doors actually open inwards into the room? How about considering place the bed in the center of the room facing the doors? You would disguise the back of the bed with a thin console table which have some dressing style storage (jewelry etc) and can hold some tall flowers and candles to set the mood on entering. There's lots of ways you can add the luxury feel you are looking but this would create real impact and make the bed the real feature of the space. If budget allows I would hang lights from the ceiling ad beside lights and layer up on dressing for an even more luxurious feel. I have attached one of my clients bedroom design (single room re-design package) to show you the hanging lighting idea - if this isn't possible then a well placed small chandelier style light would have a great effect on the space. I wouldn't advise to hang the curtains up to the radiator unless there is a cabinet or a radiator cover under the window which prevents a full length curtains. a short curtain will make the room feel awkward and a bit cramped, in my opinion. i would suggest a roman blind, which will soften the space and will reach to the end of the window. Alternatively, you could add a translucent roman blind o a roller blind with stationary full length curtains on the sides of the window. plain linen curtains and blind would create a relaxing calming room with a rustic luxury touch. When it comes to bedding i would always opt for 100% natural and cotton sateen is really helpful for a restful sleep. A white duvet set will sit nicely with the colour palette and keep it fresh, but to add depth and interest layer with darker softer tones of natural greys and dusky pinks, Ive attached some images below.

last yearThought I would share my progress. So happy how it turned out was swearing throughout the whole process of the framing as I could have made my life so much easier just by having wallpaper throughout but I think it paid off. need to walk mount TV and the round gold clipboard, bedding is temp until I can find something else, need headboard and ceiling light but rest is pretty much there.
