How to improve the front of this house? Not keen on the tiles!
Comments (8)Rather than render, that can stain (my neighbour's new render keeps having to be redone as it's stained in the corners of the window and is now beginning to break up, despite being carried out by specialists), why not consider weatherboard cladding? It's cement, comes in a variety of colours, requires no maintenance and provides extra insulation. I used it on a first floor extension to my home and absolutely love it. I extended it out over the existing brickwork to tie in the whole of the back of the house. It's Marley Cedral Weatherboard Cladding in Forest Grey. Comments (21)If you feeling brave, dark stains such as black look stunning and help the building to visually recede against the backdrop of vegetation. It's the tradition finish for agriculture buildings and has a very contemporary look. I'd contrast it with a pale grey deck or beige gravel or stone if you want something warmer. The building needs grounding in its setting, ie. connect it with a path and some planting to prevent it looking like it's been dropped from space! It's going to be a great facility to have in the garden....See MoreHow could I improve the front of this house?
Comments (9)I like Kerry Bryan’s first photo. I’m thinking maybe a hip to gable dormer window conversion above the garage with two dormer windows. Replace red tiles with black. Then stone cladding and white render with grey windows, not sure which stone yet or where. Not sure yet how to tackle the right side of the house and feel the window positions don’t look right...See MoreHow to improve the exterior of my 1930s house
Comments (0)Hi Everyone, I have spent the last few months redoing the inside of my house and giving into a more luxury and modern feel, however I am an unhappy with the exterior and think it needs a bit of a makeover. Suggestions will be greatly appreciated! I have zero DIY skills or time so whilst I would need to have any work done by professionals I'm not looking to spend thousands on this. Although I have been considering getting the pebbledashing removed and rendered to a smooth white finish. I am not overly keen on the plastic look of the porch so any suggestions to improve that would be great. P.s. ignore the interior that you can see in the back exterior photo, that has all been completely renovated with only the bifold doors remaining Thank you!...See MoreAbbie
