Storage ideas for old house with no cupboards and chaotic kids?!
Comments (17)I wouldn't be ashamed, that's kids! What do you use the mini room off the study for? Does the ikea unit have storage baskets? Apparently the kallax replaced your unit so they do the branas basket which should fit? They're £15 each though so not cheap. That may then hide some of the stuff. What if you were to paint it in a chalk or really matt paint and maybe pop an ornament or 2 on top, do you think that would blend better? I would either move your bench elsewhere, or get some baskets to go underneath. You could look at a storage bench ( there are a handful on ebay with free p&p that aren't too dear or have a look at maybe an old fashioned wooden blanket box ( although my nan used to have one and I was convinced it was a coffin!). They are quite big and store a lot and could look good? Have you heard of streetlife? I signed up to it a few weeks ago and people also offer unwanted items on there so may be worth a look. It's definitely worth getting a cupboard costed up...See MoreIdeas for utility/boot room
Comments (14)sorry hbutchart I missed your post. rubber flooring could be a good idea from a safety wet area point of view but it could look a little 'commercial' but again the right product and colour can look great. I would also check how this type of flooring would work with underfloor heating. If you sont use rubber either ceramic tiles or vinyl tiles would be perfect the vinyl tiles come in many styles concrete, slate and wood effects habe a look at Expona on line its a great product....See MoreAdvice needed - how to revamp our storage room?
Comments (7)I like the pull out cupboards, excellent idea. At only 700mm wide, lets face it, you can't go in, so Jen is right the depth makes it awkward. Quite often those cupboards are near to kitchens and bathrooms, and are made that deep so that you can put a washing machine and tumble dryer in one on top of the other, plus have space in front for the washing machine door to open. They're ideal Utility cupboards for people that want to free up space in a kitchen. However, they're great storage if you can figure it out....See MoreCan we improve on storage without sacrificing space
