Lighting dilemma - App to visualise interior??

last year

We are finally having an all seasons room built in our meadow. Its roof should be being started this week. The 2 walls not visible in the photo will be mostly bifold doors. Internally, the ceiling will be vaulted with a couple of oak beams. We are undecided about lighting and I wondered if there was an app I could use to help me visualise the interior. Does any one have any suggestions, please - either for an app or just how to approach planning the lighting? Thanks

Hello Irina, I must say it may not be intentional as your mirror is broken but how you have situated it is actually really gr8! I think it looks really refreshing placed that way and works beautifully with the blue. I want to suggest something by Michael Anastassiades which I think would be ideal like the tube chandelier. Which would also work brilliantly with your floor lamp. One more thing... I'd love to suggest a Swan basket for the fireplace with plain feet.. Free standing rather than dogs. :)) This is a 3 sided swan and I have mine the other way around.. I think it looks better that way. : ))

Hi original poster! I know it’s 7 years since you asked this but would love to know what you did. We are not in a similar position with a similar looking house at the back but even steeper. I know that a full extension and lowering the internal floors would be ideal but we can’t afford that and need a 5-7 year fix. Please let us know what you decided and why ☺️

Hi @peckadoodle Moles Breath works well with Cornforth White, which is greyer that the photo on their website. I would keep the ceiling white and beams as they are, then paint all of the room in cornforth white and the wall behind the fireplace in Mole's breath to give it a dramatic look. Remember that DULUX Trade centres can match any Farrow & Ball colour in dulux paint, it is cheaper and it will not be flat matt (which unfortunately is not very long lasting). Try it with some sheen in it. Hope this helps. Also, if you have an iphone, download the Dulux Visualiser App and virtually try any of their colours on your walls to get an idea (you might surprise yourself with your colour choices!). Out of curiosity, why grey? is your sofa black or dark brown? If dark brown, I would recommend you try HAGUE BLUE as your accent colour behind the fireplace and Hardwick white in the rest of the room. Hi. Jonathan...I like your word embellishment! That sounds like a plan. There are so many words for what I am looking for that it has been quite confusing. I have ordered some samples of architrave and it looks like an ogee or regency pattern will suffice. The difficult bit is that I need to adjust for 8mm to abut to coving but 16 mm to be the same as the tile join point. They sell it in 18mm depth so that might suffice. The real pain is that I need 90 mm width...and that means a cut down job. So...v.i.p. Walls....I might be glad of your link yet. Is there a website? Plaster stuff won't work as you can cut it down. I guess I want it to look like extended coving but that is easier said than done. Not so sure I just want to end the tiles abruptly although I can see the benefits of such simplicity. Thanks to one and all.

It’s electric lighting we are thinking about for when we use the room at night. It is essentially additional living space, with a mini kitchen in one corner, but will also be a sewing room.

If was working space you would require strong ceiling lights, but if more cosy you probably don't want to make it too industrial.

I would add lights under the wall units In the kitchen, a standing light with magnifying glass glass, if you have sitting, if you have a sofa maybe a feature pendent ceiling light too? Eg: I just seen a website at random

In its in the shadow during the day, the direction of the byfolding, you may need a large mirror to reflect light?
