Floors before or after fitting kitchen units
Comments (23)hi all. please let me start by apologising for the messy state of the temporary kitchen photos I've attached. it's still a building site. arghhhhhhhhh. having an L shaped kitchen and island installed soon. my question is. the layout will be similar to the current temp layout in the pictures. back wall will be floor to celing units with American fridge freezer. other Wall will be worktop with floor and wall units. large 2.8m long Island that will bridge kitchen (tiled) and family room (wood) floors. I was planning to tile first but with the island how can you be sure that the tiles will be symmetrical around it? sure you could move the island a few inches one way or the other but there's no gaurentee that the walkway will look symmetrical. best to tile after to get joins and ground lines where they look best? also the builder put down t&g 22mm chipboard on joists in kitchen. will need to put some sort of cement board over to tile to but this will mean the finished floor height will be slightly higher than the rest of the house. any issues with this? thanks all...See MoreNeed help with kitchen unit colour with tile
Comments (31)The darkest is worsted. We have ruled it out but the sample had already been ordered from the kitchen place so took it anyway. I think we need the cooler blue greys so I am going to do bigger cards of lamp room grey and pavilion grey. I am swaying towards lamp room grey. Just to add, those last two pictures are during a heavy rain shower and it was very dark outside, its probably as dark as we will see the colours. I will take again in brighter conditions....See MoreWall colour to go with Pointing and Hague Blue kitchen units
Comments (8)Now I think you have a good point there. Choosing a deeper neutral sounds good. I’m a fan of colour and I have a Dulux minty green in my kitchen, F&B Cromarty in my sitting room, Dulux Egyptian Cotton in the bedroom and aqua in the other bedroom. All these shades are soft though so not garish, apart from a navy feature wall in kitchen. Dulux do some lovely neutral shades like Perfectly Taupe, Chic Shadow and Polished Pebble. Of course colours are affected by the light in the room and those sort of shades can look a bit grim in a dark north facing room. Comments (2)The flooring company could check the moisture content to see if its ready for the new floor with a test meter. But if you're having solid wood worktops and if there is a lot of moisture then I wouldn't want to have these installed, also if you're new kitchen doors are solid timber these will also be affected by a damp atmosphere/high humidity. I think you really need to get some heating/dehumifier on before you start....See MoreCarla / kolours.space
