Moving a chimney breast/fireplace
Comments (6)If you need a fire for heat you will have to have an insert constructed, the gas brought in and possibly the chimney lined and possibly a air brick for ventilation. If you are not keen on the work consider faking it: Electric fires don't have the same level of regulation and can still give a flame effect while throwing out heat. Alternatively if you don't need neat but want to see a dancing flame consider a Bioethanol fire: http://www.gelfireplaces.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=7&flypage=flypage_default.tpl&product_id=316&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=57...See MorePaint or paper chimney breast? Comments (20)Going back to original options with the sofas opposite each other, can you fit a tv unit under the stairs as that could look quite good? With regard to the L shaped arrangement with the tv on the unit, you could drill a circle in the back of the unit and store the play station and sky in there. Another option which I think could work is to swap the dining and living round as the dining end looks bigger. Have one sofa on the kitchen wall with the other opposite ( place the sofas about a foot from both walls) and hang the tv above the radiator. You could make a feature of the room with a built in tv, Sky and radiator cover, as per example attached from Andre hodges. That should still give you at least 4ft for a clear corridor to the kitchen ( on the basis the 7ft measurement you gave was from the side of the kitchen door!) I wouldn't paper the recesses now I've seen the whole room. Maybe considering papering or painting the kitchen wall to Bring the wall in so as to make it feel wider and give more interest to the lounge....See MoreNeed help with chimney breast
Comments (1)Hi. what about using a grasscloth something in a grey/ brown? You could also paint the fire surround, depending on what else is going in the room a charcoal or a greige would look nice or maybe just a chalky white....See MoreHelp me arrange living room around chimney breast
Comments (3)Do you have x3 doors into your lounge? Switch your door openings so that they open up against the walls if at all possible. This should help you feel less like you’re falling into the furniture when you enter the room. Do you need to have your TV on the opposite wall? Would it fit into the alcove to the right of the fireplace on a bracket that you can move? It then becomes less of a feature and let’s the fire become the feature of the room....See More- 3 years ago
