Need design ideas for a bedroom and living room combined
Comments (4)Hi - difficult to visualise without a room plan but this is a hotel we stayed in in London recently; I really liked the layout which felt intimate and comfortable. You could put a small table and chairs in the bay, perhaps and put a small sofa at the foot of the bed with the TV mounted on the opposite wall. Add smaller, armless chairs in corners that can be pulled out as needed but don't take up too much space. The door you can see is the door to the bathroom; the door into the room was diagonally opposite, near the French doors....See MoreLiving room and dining room advice
Comments (22)The Persian rug is lovely. We have several (sitting room, study, hall, bedroom ..... they're a bit addictive), with fabric using a couple of the colours in each for stuff like cushions, curtains etc. with neutral walls. I agree with minnie about the patterns. To get the right colour combinations, at a reasonable price, you could find a company that does a range with the colour or colours you're looking for and then look for remnants on ebay, to get them at bargain prices. That's worked well for us. Stuff like this:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Schumacher-Curtain-Fabric-PASHA-PAISLEY-2m-POMEGRANATE-100-WOOL-/322509242456?hash=item4b170c8058:g:DwsAAOSw42JZAwWm And if you're looking for another rug to complement the one you've got, www.carpetu2.co.uk has a massive range on-line, at better prices than I've been able to find here. They're actually in Greece, but don't charge for shipping, which is very fast....See MoreDining set be out of place in a 'formal' living/dining room?
Comments (2)I think they go well with the table. What about this as an alternative? I've got them in a formal dining room, they're from Lombok. I couldn't quite afford real wishbones and wasn't too sure of the quality of the faux ones around. Perhaps post pics of the living space though...See Moreliving room and dinning room combination
Comments (6)Hi Sue, you have some nice space to work with. One thing I noticed straight away was that you have used navy as your primary colour in this room, navy often works best as a secondary colour. It may be worth replacing your rug with something more neutral, a textured grey rug would look nice. I've attached an image below of a living room also using navy blue sofas paired with a greyish rug and it makes a huge difference. Adding a small coffee table would then help fill that space in the middle and make the room feel more cosy. Finally I've noticed some curtains in the background, changing these out for some wooden venetian blinds would really help bring the room together (you can go for faux wood blinds which are cheaper and look near identical to real wood). I believe by making these changes it will really give your room a stylish and timeless feel and "make your space come to life" as you say. Here's a great selection of faux wood blinds - https://www.makemyblinds.co.uk/wooden-blinds/faux-wood-blinds/...See Morepannacotta
