Living Room with Awkward Bay Window and Door

Hi,

We have a living room with a bay window and a door in a really awkward position for furniture and sofa placement.

We really like the style of design in the picture at the bottom of this post.

We just cant find a layout that will work, I have drawn on the plans below to show where we have tried putting the sofas and they either involve having the back of a sofa facing the door, one sofa in the bay and another on the adjacent wall which is really unsociable, or a sofa in front of the bay leaving a wasted empty space behind.

We are looking to add a fireplace, TV (probably above the fireplace), and some units.

Despite searching high-and-low, i can't seem to find any pictures of a similar layout to out living area and am struggling to make anything work.

Any ideas, pictures or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

I think the third one will offer better viewing of the TV but the communication between sofas and the use of the bay will be better in the second one.

I like how the view looks as you enter. I would place a console in the bay behind the sofa.

I have Windows floor to ceiling both ends of my lounge and only one complete empty wall the opposite wall ,has large double doors with small walls each side. I find small pieces of furniture more suited to keep the feeling of light and space. I purchase a large sofa with a chaise end totally took up to much space and looked awful.

Oh no! In that case I'd consider an armchair in the bay, and having the TV on a low sideboard opposite it. I would still consider having the top half of the cupboard open and placing some books and other decorative items here.

I don't think you can really beat shutters on bay windows, they look absolutely stunning! May take a little shopping around to find the best price for good quality but worth it for sure! Otherise you could recreate the look with faux wood Venetian blinds?
