Hi there, do you have brick work and an opening already there or are you creating a screen from nothing? Could you consider pocket doors? if you are having stud walls installed then you could have them made with pockets so that you could push the doors back flush in to them. Or if that's not a possibility slim double french doors are always elegant and classic. If you fit them with small blinds you would be able to create the privacy your guests would require but keep it light and airy for family use. The problem I can foresee with internal bi-folds is that you would have to have a channel in the floor for them to run in which won't be very attractive. There is also quite a bulk when they are folded up which will eat in to your space. Do you have any photographs or plans that we could see?

Hi Carol, We sell Sunflex bifold doors, as their looks and engineering are second to none. Their internal SF45 bifolding doors may well suit your needs. There is a choice of thresholds - one choice is a DDA compliant flush track recessed in to the floor sealed with a twin brush pile and a nylon strip for a virtually seamless connection between the divide. You may well want to consider a moveable wall rather than bifolds though, as these can be installed without a threshold. They have a slightly different 'slide and turn' opening mechanism though, but would allow for that lovely seamless flooring. - see the Sunflex SF40-HSW for details You may also be able to reglaze your existing doors - Specialized coatings on the glazing you choose can help provide thermal protection and perhaps save you some some expense. Having new bifolds, window and back door fitted on extension. All external frames will be grey anthracite but can’t decide to go with matching grey internal frames or white???

We put integral blinds in our bifolds which are 1.2m wide. What we have found is that because the doors are wide, the blinds are heavy to pull up - we have the type with the string at the side. As a result one of our mechanisms broke and had to be replaced. So maybe consider the size of the doors and the mechanism you opt for.
