I don't think that has beading on the top. I think the style is called Ogee. But it is at the bottom and think it finishes off nicely, however, the people who installed the floors before us didn't do a great job and they're quite uneven (oak wooden floors) so hoping they don't leave gaps along the bottom, that would be dreadful. We're removing all the old skirting and architrave in the house on the ground floor. There's no coving either so we have a blank space to work with really. We're going to try source something like the above, but would like to make sure we source good quality. The walls will be painted in Cornforth White from Farrow and Ball. The skirting, coving and architrave in a nice white, probably more matte white.

You do not have to have to fit architraves, you could install over sized frames for example 44mm thick instead of the standard thickness and then have a 12mm groove running up and down the legs/stiles and across the head, the wall finish then would still finish flush with the front of the frame but the groove breaks from wall finish to frame finish, this detail can also be run around the room to form what would be a flush skirting with the wall broken again by the groove. I hope this makes sense. Easier to do on stud walls than solid.

Yes architrave and skirting works well in the wall colour. Makes the ceiling higher and you don’t have the contrast with white skirting boards which can make a room feel smaller too. Or your original suggestion could work, I just wasn’t keen on the actual colours personally but I’m not great with colour 😂

Flooring Selection: The beautiful flooring you have already selected will be the main focal point throughout – especially the herringbone pattern and natural graining in the wood, framing your door with a similar wood might cause a boxed in effect within the spaces.
