Hello. It is very lovely. It is a porcelain paving. It was for indoor outdoor. The company that did it no longer does it though which is a real shame as it is always very popular on Houzz! Hope that's helpful. Regards Seonaid

Honestly, £1,000 isn't that bad for the laborious and hideous work they have to do, but get a couple of quotes. I wouldn't do the stairs - sandblasting is too strong for them anyway and I think you can still see the nice wood grain in them. Perhaps you can put a runner up them. Do the ceiling beams, the lintel over the fireplace and all the dark beams imbedded in the wall. I can't really see the church seat, the seat in the fireplace or the doors, but the door in the Somerset Cottage photo with the carpet you like looks good, doesn't it? Show me more photos of the church seat and the seat in the fireplace, but you could paint the church seat the same colour as the walls, or the same as the trim in eggshell or a slightly darker shade of the wall paint..... That would lighten it up. I still don't know what your style is! Do any of these appeal? We can find the actual products once you give an indication of what you like! I have a dividing wall between the kitchen and stairs and want to knock this down and have a glass wall or balustrade to open the 2 rooms into one. The cost will be high and I won't recoup so I've out this off. Have finally today booked in garden decking and floor tiling the hallway - it currently has ivory carpets which get filthy within days of cleaning it.

You have such clean lines in that kitchen, that I can see why you are hesitating at adding a traditional tile treatment to that section of the wall behind your induction range top. I would take a different approach, keeping in mind the sleekness of the induction top as well as the rest of your kitchen. It looks as if you don't have a ventilation fan and that you're planning on putting a light over the induction top?? Regardless, I would put a framed mirror there which would reach from the back lip of the countertop up to the height of the top of your window, and as wide as the induction top. Having them the same width will make the mirror feel as if it's balancing off the induction top. The frame could be a metal finish perhaps. I would hang it off two supports so it will stay level, and it would be removable for intensive cleaning if required. Otherwise a quick spritz should keep it looking pretty good. If I were doing this, I would be working with my custom mirror company so I could get exactly the size I want and the right frame. The second photo below shows a piece of stainless steel that's been mounted on the wall. It's also very sleek looking, but I think it would be harder to keep clean than a mirror. What do you think?

Disappointed in having to have metal trim around tiled bathroom window

I absolutely hate those trim pieces. When you are spending hundreds or thousands on tile to do a project and then finish it with these trim products it looks cheap and tacky. Plus when you are using a classic or vintage tile those shiny metal pieces or worse the cheap white plastic doesn't match. Just ruins the whole thing. I suspect builders like this kind of trim because it fast and easy to use and covers a multitude of sins. You don't have to be a particularly skilled tiler. Nor do you have to do any special cuts.
