Hi. How about this attempt for layout assuming the fire is boarded up? The sofa would be about 8ft from the tv. (There is leg room between the sofas and I drew the coffee table too far away but ignore that!), Tv can go on the wall or on a cabinet or on the wall with a console underneath and art and decorative pieces around it. Personally I wouldn't put the desk by the bay as you'd be blocking light with a screen. Would it work where the table currently is with a desk lamp?If you need storage, I'd put bits away in a cabinet or get a desk with drawers. Cafe shutters would be good or if on a budget wooden blinds can look good or voile blinds. In terms of style, what do you like? Maybe scandi or soft industriał with white boards or a mix of the two or??

Hello, It seems to me that the chimney sticks out about 350 - 400mm into the room. That's a lot of potential space. The TV is probably 50mm deep. That leaves 300mm of space doing what? I would suggest removing the chimney breast completely throughout the house. This should not cost more than about £5,000. Then I would build a bit of stud for the TV and any other elements I wanted and gain additional space on the ground floor and first floor. If you remove the chimney on the ground floor get an engineer to design a suitable support and remember any structural supports have to be signed off by building control.

To be honest if it was me and I was going to paint the brick then I would go and paint it so that it is obviously painted rather than trying to recreate the red brick look with paint. I think it will just look fake whereas if you were to paint it white it would compliment your walls nicely and you would still get to keep the texture of the brick without trying to make it look like something it's not if that makes sense. There are great tutorials online from bloggers who have done it if you are interested in seeing how the finished result would look. You could full on paint it white or whitewash it for a more watered down paler look. Good luck with your project :)

Hi again I was in the same as far as paint goes, I’ve went for pure brill white easy care by delux, I like delux paint tbh, goes on well and no issues, the easy care really is pretty tuff, I always add colour with either a feature wall or the furniture, tbh a pure white room is a hard thing to pull off! I found a great grey by crown, don’t generally like crown but thought I’d give it a go as it was on offer,it’s stunning and very hard wearing, I actually went and bought 3 more tins as it was being discontinued! If I was you I’d prob go white and add colour with some nice pictures and accessories or furniture, ps, this is just from my viewpoint, paint is so hard to navigate, I’ve got crown for the feature wall in the new livingroom scheme and f&b for the wall, door and skirting
