Walk in shower panels

We are installing a 1200mm x 800mm walk in shower. Will we need a deflector panel or is there a combination of fixed glass panels that will work that mean the floor won’t get drenched?!

HI Ange,

Depends whats on the other end of the shower really (and what will get splashed), you could start with a single pane of glass and add the deflector panel later on if you find there is too much spray. (note - might have to fit the glass panel through a glass fitter rather that order a ready made one, if you want the option of adding the deflector)

The layout of the bathroom is like in the diagram here. So the splash area would be beside the bath and just in front of the sink. We think having a 700mm panel along the 1200mm side of the shower tray would mean a lot of water would splash out, but aren’t sure how to apportion the two panels to have minimal splashing! Maybe an 800mm panel along the long side of the shower tray and a 600mm panel along the end? Would that allow a big enough gap to walk into the shower?

the toilet is on the wall above the bath with the door in the top right corner. We are limited on where we can put the shower due to windows on the wall to the left. Thanks WestWest it is good to here that there is limited splashing with the 30cm folding panel. i thin with adjustment in the main panel the opening into the shower will be 50cm which is tight as you say but is hopefully manageable.

Chris, We have the same shower tray as you (but in the 150cm format) and also exactly the same issue. I think it's a design fault as the tray is too shallow and the ridge round the edge does not contain the water. Our highly untechnical solution has been to buy shower mats which are exactly 80cm wide (from Christy on their website) and then to accept that they will get soaked and to dry them on the heated towel rail. Sorry if this is not the most sophisticated solution but it works for us. Good luck

I have a 1400 x 800 shower, was going for walk in but bathroom fitter advised against it. We have a sliding door, easy clean, expensive one. I am glad i didn't go for the walk in because honestly 1400 is too small. Why not go for 1600 with a walk in, or 1400 with sliding door. By the way the small gap can he easily sorted by your tilers. They'll make recommendations when they come n to quote. Such a common problem for them to solve. I'll try to attach a pic of my showerso hopefully you'll see that 1400 ight be too small for a walk in.

I have a 1400x800mm walk-in shower with panel and deflector. I bought an 800mm panel which is actually 745mm fitted, but with the deflector gives about 755mm internally and a 600mm gap. Even with a panel at the end, I think you might still need a deflector (I've got a wall at the end). A 600mm gap works well.
