Open plan kitchen/dining/living layout dilemma
Comments (8)Hi there, We recently reconfigured our downstairs as part of a complete renovation and have to say that having a professional on board was a life saver! We used Gina from Create Perfect (above) and she helped us work out how to configure the space to work best for our life. For what you'll spend on the building work and / or a new kitchen you'll probably be very pleasantly surprised by the cost (hundreds rather than thousands) A good designer will come up with 3D images of different layouts and configurations and from there you can pick your favourites and get them to take them a step further so you end up with 3D renders and also YouTube videos of 'walk arounds' in the space, so you can see exactly how the space would look and feel. Here's a few from ours if it helps... we're not finished but it does show how much Gina helped us with a vision to take three separate rooms through to a new layout for our downstairs (we have a separate lounge not included) Separate rooms to start with and a floorplan I was brain dead from looking at... The 3D pics we had to help from our designer... And a few of how it looks so far (lots still to do and most of the furniture still missing / makeshift at the moment but you'll get the idea) Without the help of a professional designer in deciding the new layout goodness knows what we'd have ended up with! There's only so many times you can look at a floor plan and try and imagine how it will all turn out! Good luck whatever you decide- sounds like an exciting project...See MoreLiving room dilemmas
Comments (13)Hi everyone , thanks for all your comments, everything you have said is exactly what we have been thinking.... flush simple ceiling lights and a floor lamp in the corner, although we are now toying with the idea of two matching lamps on tables at either side of the bay window and maybe adding some wall ornaments or something to add detail above the lamp to balance the curtain height . Yes we were going to add some wall art between the sofa and cabinet. Yes the sofa can be moved closer to the other sofa but that works better if the tv is positioned more in the corner and because of the huge tv it had to be flat on the wall ( I would love the TV to be wall mounted but my husband is old fashioned and the tv HAD to be on a cabinet) there is more space than it looks between back of sofa and cabinet so it's not too univiting and the ottoman seems to line up where it is....See Morekitchen diner and living area dilemma
Comments (1)Hi there, What an exciting development to your home. Would you be looking for an interior designer to help with your plans? We are happy to discuss on here but would be great to be able to draw up plans for this project of yours. Adding on a new space can be tricky and we like to make sure (as much as possible) that the space looks like a natural extension of what is already there - this can be done by minimising nibs and adding joinery to cover any that are necessary to the build. Pocket doors are a great way of moving between spaces but you could also consider a jib door which blends into the wall when shut - this creates a much more open looking space without having lots of visible doorways. All the best, Marion...See MoreLiving room styling - rugs - cushions - finishing touches please!
Comments (11)Hi Minnie, TV is work in progress...blame the OH, we can never agree! The unit is awaiting the sale room reopening though. Wall mounted or tv media unit will be needed. When I first planned the room with help on here, there was the suggestion of a unit to run under the tv and under the window. It looked fab. The sofa can’t move forward as there is a door which it would block. It isn’t really a problem as their are usually just the two of us, if we have visitors we are either in another room or position ourselves on the sofas to chat. The occasional chair is useful for being able to see others and we do move that around or sit it out of the corner. We have some art, black framed but black and white. The vintage chair is proving elusive but could be yet another neutral! With all of this you can see my definite reluctance to commit to a colour scheme. I suppose that’s where the idea of black and neutral rugs came from. Any suggestions welcome. Relieve my indecision!😂...See More- last month
