Fellow designers, can you help with a bathroom design?
Hi everyone, I'm currently designing a bathroom for a client and would like some opinions here. I've attached the design so far however the client has asked for more storage. (shelves and/or drawers).
The fitted furniture is currently 320mm in depth which works with the laminate worktops which match the shower boards, I don't really want to make this deeper as there is only 500mm from the unit to the 800 x 900 quad shower enclosure. It needs to be about 380mm to allow for drawers so I don't think this is a viable option.
I could put shelves above the WC (which I have at my home) but just curious if anybody else has other ideas that I have not thought about.
P.S the SVP is directly behind the WC and goes straight down internally so keeping the WC here is preferable.

Comments (13)Hello comegetme, I think tiles and paint can work well... You could even have two colours... Like the wooden blind for the window and you've pretty much nailed the placement... What about having a wall hung loo.... This gives an even gr8r level of space and means if it's boxed in.. you get another shelf. For folded towels? Reed sticks... What about thinking more on the spa theme with stone tiles.... Stone flooring... Tile Magic has a really amazingly affordable range.. (see image) but get samples! With marble or any stone- it must have a protective coating/seal which is not visible but it will mean that the marble or stone is protected.. There are some nice slates too, that could be nice... I rather like these marbles below, or you could choose a travertine, or a marble looking tile... From £1.70 or so a tile... It's probably the most affordable I have ever seen... I would say get samples of any you like and sit them in the room and see how they work with the light... Even if you compliment it with a painted wall....Choosing accessories very carefully can also bring a really luxurious feel on a small budget.. What about a bamboo ladder for towels....... The shower screen I would say doesn't need to move, you just step in from the bottom end.. and I'd choose straight edges and have an invisible fixing.. It looks like there's some colour in those floor tiles (I see a lovely russetty orange but photos are not colour-accurate so I won't make any recommendations)...you could pick up on that...why not take one of the tiles to a specialist paint showroom and get some expert help / play around with colours? Make sure you look at the colour (most showrooms will have a large paint sample of each colour) against the tile and something white as well. Comments (21)I would still suggest tanking/waterproofing the room prior to the installation of a standard shower tray or bath. Waterproofing membranes with the European Technical Approval will withstand normal movement within a house but the flooring and walls need to be of sound construction - a wetroom can be properly fitted in age of building. These principles apply to a standard tray or bath as the silicone beading around the edge may fail (from movement/age) and let wall bypass the tray, causing damage to the building underneath. This picture was taking after a bath with wall mounted shower was removed. The silicone had failed causing the wood to rot. This was all replaced and the below was created in its place: A bath will be easier for people with young children and if you plan to sell on, a wetroom will appeal to some where a bath will appeal more to others. Comments (30)Hi, if you did that, the box would be a very prominent feature and unless the box was the same width as the window sill you would have one surface slightly wider than the other which would look unbalanced so ideally I would leave around 100mm - 150mm between the two surfaces as in the photo. That said, it does depend on the height of the window sill from the floor. These details can be difficult to call which is why we use software and get a 3D visualisation. In answer to your second question, yes you could use chrome or satin nickel finish strip or a glass pencil tile to finishes the top of a tile very nicely and avoid that awkward edge created with a ceramic tile. You could use the strip on its own or with a mosaic of some sort - the pink and grey scheme was an Art Deco style set we did for a bathroom showroom. Thanks both, I did think about putting in a tall unit to the right of the window but the client wanted a worktop going all the way along.
Yes there will be some storage under the basin but it is only a 600.
I also played with putting a unit opposite the WC but you end up with 400mm between the end of the WC and the unit which is no good.
What do you think to this? Putting open units on this wall here.
