Anthracite on internal doors and windows?

What are people's opinions on doing anthracite on their internal doors and windows? I'm wondering if it will be too much. I have seen it online, with bright white walls which looks great but will it in real life 🤔🤔 would love to hear your opinions and photos would be extra helpful from those of you that have done it. Thank you ❤️

I love that colour but it really depends on your flooring, furniture and natural light. Anthracite internal windows look amazing. It's a great foil for any type of greenery. I think it looks best with a light floor.

Thanks Isla. We've lots of natural light and lots of big windows. Planning on doing a light wood effect tile throughout. Do you think anthracite windows and doors would work together??

Not really, I don't want white. Other non standard RAL choices would add £££ to an already expensive quote, black and anthracite are the same price from our supplier.

I’m with the keepers! I think you might end up devaluing your house if you took out all the original features such as the doors, latches etc. I think you need to experiment with some colours for the walls and look at replacing the carpet which is a bit of a cold grey colour. Also have you looked into the history of the house as I don’t think the leaded lights look like original arts and crafts style to me!

We went for aluminium sliders, personnel door, coping and corner post and flush upvc downstairs and upstairs. They look good and blend in fine. The windows are halo flush sash and cost a fraction of the price of aluminium ones.

Looks lovely, very smart. The only time I think anthracite doesn’t work well is teamed on the exterior with red brick. Looks great with white render.

Anthracite next to white (or pale walls) draws the eye to such an extent that it can become very dominant. This is ok if that's what you want. If you want your doors to stand out and you want to see lots of squares and rectangles when you enter a room then that's what will happen. Also, thicker frames will accentuate this even more. Sometimes people have anthracite bifolds and white windows so this might be a compromise worth thinking about. Our window manufacturer told me that so many customers actually hated their internal 'dark' windows and had them resprayed. I think thin sleek framed windows can look amazing dark but chunky ones perhaps less so. This article is very good.
