What color would you choose for the window seat? Blk, bwn, or white?

I am trying to decide what color cabinet to use for my window seat/bookshelf. My kitchen cabinets are natural wood tone upper and black lower. I can't decide what color cabinet to use for my window seat/bookshelf - black, natural wood tone, or white. Help!!!

I would use natural wood as its quite a large area including the shelves. I think black might look too heavy. Is the second pic of what you are planning or is it already built? It also depends on factors like light, furniture, floor type, etc. When in doubt I always go lighter. You could paint it later if you change your mind. Well maybe, it depends what finish you have selected.

I think I would go white, or how about taupe? I think too much black may be a little overwhelming. Here’s some images, one of them a darker tone to give you a visual example.

Hi Folks. The windows are in and I love them. I chose black slim profile aluminium chamfered profile. I've been delaying posting a picture because, as you can see the front drive isn't done yet so the house isn't set off very well in its surroundings. To be clear, the windows we replaced were already Everest replacement windows from the late 70's early 80's I'd guess. The only original glazing we had being external Crittal doors that were ffffreezing, so they have gone and the Crittal stained glass windows by the front door and chimney breast, which we've kept, though they need painting black to match the new windows. We haven't replaced all the other non-original windows, but will aim to do so over the years, when the cash flow improves. I managed to persuade my husband to at least agree to all the first floor front elevation windows being replaced, so now they are all the same when you view the house from the street. The windows of a brick built sun room, front right, that you can partly see, are probably going to be removed, to make that area part of the garden rather than the house. One thing I would say is that we are having a bit of trouble with condensation on the outside of the new windows, which was unexpected and made me quite miserable at first. It turns out we're a bit unlucky, it's a known, but not extremely common, issue with such good thermal insulation in modern double glazing and it depends on the aspect of your house and the dew point. Our front elevation is west and exposed, so cold in the morning resulting in condensation and our view being foggy until the air temperature rises. I've attached a poor photo to show a mild version of what I mean, it can be a lot denser and we have far reaching views from the upstairs windows, so disappointing. But I've got over it. The main plus point is that the rooms with new replacement windows are so much warmer than the ones which still have the old ill fitting wood and aluminium windows. I'm also really pleased that we chose the windows to be black on the inside too. A neighbour up the road has black on the outside, white on the inside and I think it looks really odd when the windows are open. Finally, all the houses on our road are completely different, so there is no uniting feature that ties them together, our windows couldn't clash with the windows in the other houses as they are all individuals, though I suppose you could say they are all clashing, but as we are fortunate enough to be in a big plot with the houses set well apart I don't get that sense. We have a very similar style of house and are also torn between playing it safe with white or light cream upvc windows to brighten the exterior or being a little more adventurous choosing grey. We are also having to replace all guttering, soffits and fascia ( we have 3 dormers to front and 3 at the back) so we are wondering about combining grey window frames, guttering and soffits with white fascias and white front door and white garage door. We are also supposed to decide by tomorrow but I am worried that getting it wrong will be a massive disappointment every time arrive home! i wish there was some way to "photoshop" the options onto an image of our house. Sorry not to offer any constructive advice but I found it reassuring to find another house owner struggling with a decision just like me!

‘‘Tis strange as you say! Tbh I don’t like the position of the tv at all and not fussed on the leds as they aren’t in keeping with the style of the room, the piece of carpet in front of the fire does nothing for it either, a rug, reposition the tv and a fire surround of some sort would look better as a start.

Yes, you could go for dual coloured ones. I think @Juliet Docherty once mentioned in a dilemma that they have dark coloured windows inside and they don't like how it dictates the colours in the room? Not sure if it was her who said that. So I think it depends on your style too. I quite like black/white/beige/grey interiors, and I quite like the idea of dark window frames on the inside :-) I don't think it looks odd if you have black bifolds and white windows on the inside. Just a personal choice

Hello,

If the bookcase/window seat is going on the wall we see in the picture you have added to your post all 3 options will work. It all depends on the feel youre going for.

Black will give you a more coherent and chic loook.

White will visually differentiate the area from the kitchen space.

Wood will create a more relaxed and natural feel.

So just think about what mood/feel you'd want to create and the answer will present itself to you. :)
