Living dining room dilemma

Hello dear friends!
I finally finished my project. I know that layout is not ideal, but after reviewing different variants of planning my living room, I stopped on two options. Would you please tell me your opinion which variant is better? The first one with dining table behind the sofa or the second one with small dining table in the room‘s corner? If I choose small table in the corner, the won’t be too much place to go to terrace.

Hello,

I like the round table version better but it creates a lot of wasted space between the back of the sofa and kitchen wall.

I would change the sofa so that the chaise element is on the other side and place it at an angle to create more usable space.

What do you think?

Thank you very much for great idea! Looks much better , but it will be really difficult to find such semi circular sofa.

I think that the fire place is beautiful as it is and does not need any make up!! The sideboard on the right is no so big at all and if painted with different colour than grey and distressed could become a much lighter piece with its own character. I would take the top off the left one and again shabby chick it, filling the doors with ornaments to make it more interesting. It is amazing what a transformation you can achieve with a bit of chalk paint! Thanks guys! Every opinion and advise is appreciated, as my head is already spinning from all thoughts and considerations!!! Unfortunately hubby is against hanging tv so it will stay...:/ I'm a little afraid to introduce too much colour and make a room too busy (if it's not yet), as it's quite small..aren't those feather cushions not bright enough? We ordered glass ceiling lamps (with wood detail), hopefully they will uplift the room a bit..? Also can't add a rug as we have a large neutral striped rug placed already..would wall light be better than floor lamp next to the chair? I still miss some lighting in that corner for some reason, but floor lamp makes it a bit too crowded :/

Hi there, We recently reconfigured our downstairs as part of a complete renovation and have to say that having a professional on board was a life saver! We used Gina from Create Perfect (above) and she helped us work out how to configure the space to work best for our life. For what you'll spend on the building work and / or a new kitchen you'll probably be very pleasantly surprised by the cost (hundreds rather than thousands) A good designer will come up with 3D images of different layouts and configurations and from there you can pick your favourites and get them to take them a step further so you end up with 3D renders and also YouTube videos of 'walk arounds' in the space, so you can see exactly how the space would look and feel. Here's a few from ours if it helps... we're not finished but it does show how much Gina helped us with a vision to take three separate rooms through to a new layout for our downstairs (we have a separate lounge not included) Separate rooms to start with and a floorplan I was brain dead from looking at... The 3D pics we had to help from our designer... And a few of how it looks so far (lots still to do and most of the furniture still missing / makeshift at the moment but you'll get the idea) Without the help of a professional designer in deciding the new layout goodness knows what we'd have ended up with! There's only so many times you can look at a floor plan and try and imagine how it will all turn out! Good luck whatever you decide- sounds like an exciting project

I like the room. Personally I would go for a dark colour on the tv wall so the tv etc blends in. Rather than buy a new rug I would spend the money on a cane and rattan chair, there are a few around ATM at really reasonable prices and you can pick up velvet curtains cheaply. I would also add another large plant. I couldn't get a wall colour similar to the one in the other pic but maybe look at something like this or just the cabinet colour. When budget allows I would add an arc lamp behind the sofa and a table lamp on the sideboard as this will add to a cosy feeling.

There are many curved sofa's for sale. It does not have to be semi circular. A snuggler chair that is curved would also suit. There are many vintage websites which show curved sofas. Curves are key. Good advice from Studio Mood.

You don't have to get an oval shaped sofa. Any L-shaped one with more rouded edges, softer look would work well. The key is to chose a fairly low level design so it does not take away from the views. The bit close to the windows for example could be opened, without the an armrest adding more visual space and flow.
