Our bathroom is a weird shape - where should I put everything?
Comments (23)I love your new plan. You are right to make the doorway from the house to the bathroom, you only need a concrete lintel above it, the wall will be fine! ( Any builder can do this! ) Can you spin the bath round so that it's under the window though?? You will probably have enough room for a storage unit to the left of the door as you walk in. Aswell as running Bagpuss,... we are experienced property developers and i always do all of the plans, and purchasing of materials etc.........also, 50% of the labour with my husband most of the time. It pays to know what's possible sometimes. I get up really early, so, following on from your latest plan, I 3d'd it for you, as i had nothing better to do. The pictures are a little grainy but you get the idea x...See MoreWhat to put on walls in downstairs toilet - what do you have?
Comments (15)Hi Dynamo, I'm responsible for the design in your photo and delighted you like the look of this room. You would only need a few square meters of the split mosaic tiles which are available of sheets, so not expensive for a striking feature. Also, easy to keep free of dust with a quick once over with a dust pan brush, or brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner . WC's are often overlooked but when you consider its a room you use every day and your guests use too, why not make it an enjoyable experience! An alternative and very inexpensive idea for your walls and my signature in practically every home I renovate, is installing 6mm MDF panelling with a 10mm shadow gap in between each panel, apply with Pink Gripfil adhesive. 600mm x 600mm square or horizontal panels of any height add a sense of depth and soul to boring flat, painted walls. A sheet of MDF is cheap as chips, just make sure you prime and undercoat thoroughly with a mini roller before applying eggshell finish or acrylic paint. It's not a main bathroom so not susceptible to humidity, therefore emulsion paint in a contrast shade will work well too. To see an example of panelling on a larger scale (Wenge stained Oak veneered MDF), take a look at the sitting room wall in the Chelsea Harbour apartment featured on my profile page....See MoreCan I put in a downstairs toilet?
Comments (10)The conservatory is already a rather small space so I’m hesitant to pull any more space from it. We had considered taking the space from the kitchen where the kitchen/conservatory door is and loosing one unit but the space is only 60cm wide before we hit the kitchen sink and window so too narrow. Nick‘s idea of taking a corner out the kitchen (where the fridge is) to extend the under stairs space might have potential. Anyone know how easy this would be to do? We are under the impression that the space in the understairs is too small by itself to convert, although please correct me if I’m wrong! Our understairs cupboard dimensions (pictures attached to help explanation) are roughly 68cm l x 78 w x 165 min height (at the small hooks on the right of the picture) or 102 l x 78 w x 146 min height (to first stair after the small hooks)...See MoreWhere to put downstairs loo?
Comments (3)Thanks for coming back. We are planning to rework the first floor too (so creating a master plan for the house) but only executing the ground floor first budget wise initially. Have attached existing first floor and also 2 plans for first floor. First idea was essentially just building about the ground floor playroom extension - however having thought about that more, that might be a poor decision light wise for a NE facing rear. So we have a second option, that only half builds about the playroom, and then essentially creates a double extension on the left...but we will ever have the money to do 2 extensions upstairs and and could also mean our ground floor extension is dark. Another dialemia. So to cut a long story short, upstairs layout is not firm....See More- last month
