Comments (44)HiTino Felly, Marie Here. Your off to a great start - but you've made a common mistake in that you've found your inspiration for your colour palette, but your not committing to it. You need to bring the greens and blues up onto the walls and onto the floor - commit to it. You could: - add a great throw rug underneath the bed, - add big table lamp beside the bed - or better yet, a wall sconce, - drapery isn't really the best choice for this bedding - I would have brought in a bold graphic print here, in either the blue or the green - artwork can stay neutral - even do a collection of mixed metals in chrome, gold, and have fun with that - if you add too much in the blue and green it becomes boring and un-special. Choose your accessories carefully, I'd change out your drapery - go with something bolder, I'd also get a larger night stand so you could put a proper table lamp there. Good Luck!...See MoreDon't know where to start
Comments (2)Start with a competent concept planner - who will look at the floor plan and make suggestions ! If you are thinking of knocking down walls then a structural engineer might be needed, together with a builder . Usually the home owner gets the builder in first, to see what's required then he/she liaises with the SE to work out exactly what can and can't be done. Then your builder will let you know what's possible and approximately how much it will cost.If your property is more that two floors high then you can't open the stairs, due to fire risk . Then you need to keep a fire door'd hall around the stairs to protect them ... If you are thinking of external changes too, then an architect would be a good idea, as its lots more involved and Planning Dept comes into play too - but with internal changes its buildings regs monitored to keep standards and safety high then when it's complete they will sign off the work. If it's not done properly they won't sign it off and you will have problems if you try to sell the property - so it's worth having a proper, and safe, job done ! ...if you add your floor plan here and add a bit more info - ie number of floors etc - I will take a quick look for you, on my break this afternoon ! Just finishing my lunch break now - so won't be back on Houzz till later !...See MoreLovely bedroom, but don´t know what to do with it. Please help.
Comments (23)HI MARINA, I love your bedroom- great high ceilings. Your furniture is also nice. I would follow the lead from the furniture keeping all furniture white. I love tropical coastal style. I would put up a white ceiling fan and ikea sell some white nets that let in loads of light and give privacy. I would decorate the walls in an off white with a hint of pink in it for warmth and to bring out the tones in your beautiful floor. I would collect local art for the walls. I would go to town on the bedding and cushions for the bed. I would mix your favourite colours- turquoise, teal, with green and coral. Making the room have a tropical coastal beach hotel vibe. I would feel like I was on holiday every day and never want to leave. Once you've surrounded yourself with personal things like photo frames of loved ones, plants/ flowers etc, you will feel right at home and settled. I've loved decorating for years, and tried lots of colours on walls but recently I've returned to off whites as they are so flexible and you can change the look with coloured accessories regular. "2 good books to read are Greg Natale - 'A tailored interior'- He's great, and tells you trade secrets to give your home the wow factor an be your own interior designer. Also anything by Barclay Butera - he's the best for coastal/beach styles. Wishing you lots of fun....See MoreMaster Bedroom - I do not know where to start?!
Comments (12)Hi Claire. How much wardrobe space do you actually need? If you built in front of the ensuite with a faux door that would give you c7ft. I've found a pic showing what that would look like with the corridor. You could always add an extra freestanding wardrobe in the nursery or alternatively have wardrobes opposite the bed and obviously stop them c4ft short of the window. I think the bed could go on either long wall TBH and assuming you want a dressing table then have that opposite with a chair in the corner. I love shagreen ATM so would have a shagreen feature wall, this is by Osborne and little (2nd pic) and also comes in grey shades but there are a number around. Colour scheme I'd go for grey, mustard and linen shades with some black and brass for accessories. The dressing table (console) is by Shropshire design and I'd add a cube footstool to this. I think a wood floor looks good for a boudoir look, these 2 are vinyl planks by amtico and the dark colour would look great against brass. Lampshade is by Oka and chair by rowan and wren. Perhaps just pile up some pillows on the bed and add mustard velvet cushions with a draped faux fur throw. I'd add black framed art behind the bedside lamps and a tall potted plant by the doors would also look good. I'd probably just go for Roman blinds for the door and windows, you may be able to squeeze dress curtains with hold backs in too but looks as if they would slightly cover the radiators?...See More- last month
