Surveying, soon after refurbishment

Happy Easter to you and your family

Just had a query. Have put in an offer and the bank will do a survey, slotted for next week.

Besides the usual checks, I have something at the back of my mind. The property belongs to a couple, who are moving on. The day I viewed it, there was a skip outside and the estate agent mentioned about ‘some refurbishment’ work. It looked like it was complete, as the place looked fine

How could the surveyor look for any pre-existing cracks or any major structural fault? Which may have been plastered over?

Could I specifically instruct the surveyor?

If so, what can I ask to look for?

Could I directly ask the estate agent?

Sorry, I may be overthinking but I just find it odd. That someone still living in the property, would refurbish it and then put it up for sale. Or may be just it’s me
