Is anyone able to help me work out furniture placement in this living room?
It's a large room with two entrance points, the window is a fake bay (the wall is straight) and there is a fireplace where we are hoping to have a log burner installed. The room is WNW facing and we will mainly be using it in the evenings for watching TV or entertaining. There are two radiators I am probably going to keep, and although I don't want to move the location of the doors I am considering removing one of the double doors into the kitchen space and swapping the hallway door to open in the other direction. The whole house needs renovating and the kitchen has not been put in yet, so there is room for using some of the lounge space for the kitchen instead (there is already a utility elsewhere).
We have budgeted to buy new furniture (within reason) so can be really creative with arrangement, but I am really struggling with laying out the space so it doesn't become a walkway to the kitchen or have loads of dead zones. So far I'm thinking TV in bottom left corner with 3 seater sofa and 1.5 seater chair zoned with a nice rug or something, and a narrow sideboard behind the sofa to help break up the zones further. Then a sort of snug area in the corner with bookcases and a nice chair. I have no idea on the other side of the fireplace!
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? I'm very open to ideas, we have just rewired so there are access points everywhere but there are extra ones where the TV is in my plan.
Thanks for your help :)
