I drew up to scale both rooms and actually like the larger room. I don't know how to show you the lay out. Thanks for the dimensions. (I had to convert to feet since I'm an Amazonian). Anyway First, draw it out on graphic paper instead of hauling the furniture around, it is so much easier. Normally putting the bed at an angle takes up so much more room that I often can't do it but in this case it works, in my opinion and looks great! So, as you enter room in area to your left there appears to be just enough room for your wardrobe. Then as you stand at the bottom of your bed put the right hand top corner just in about the middle of the window angling it towards the door. It won't be a ful on 45 degree angle, just enough to position your dressing table against the left wall. I put it about 21 inchs or 2 feet away from the wardrobe. Whatever works for your doors. This still gives you a little room to manuever , for making your bed, to the left of the bed when needed.. I would place the dresser across from the table a couple feet away from door opening. This is all tight, granted but looks interesting and spacy to me, at least on paper. The bed corner in the middle of the window gives a sense of planning and simetry. You actually could do the whole wall in a sheer but also could just dress the window maybe in an up down interesting shade, bamboo or something textural and if you want a soft swag at the top in a great fabric to pull some color up to draw your eye. You could place a tree, (ficus, maybe), or something architectural or sculptural, tall behind the headboard. Use your vertical spaces, anything to draw your eye up. Put a tall mirror at your dressing table. You really even have room with this arrangement to have a pretty good sized round table on the right side of your bed and even a tall, 12 inch deep by 2 or 3 feet wide bookcase a foot or so away from the window wall on the right side of your room. If you do things to draw your eye up, the room will feel more spacious instead of focusing on the furniture area. I'm loving it. wish I could fly across the pond and help you! good luck!

Hi, I suggest you move the mirrors up , at the level of the window because they are too low , with this you will create a hight of the room , the carpet it is a problem : 1: it keeps the dust in the house and 2: you can never have a clean room with it . I also suggest get some money put a wood floor and the radiator can be cut out , moved on the floor heating , then you can decide if you want or not to create a small place to sit at the window or the corner where your closet is a small table with a chair where you can rest and have also a make-up session . Move the curtains close to the level of the ceiling and try to find a fade coloured curtain that can create an accent in the room (just because you have a patter wall that does not mean everything in the house should have a patter as well) and i suggest a plant because it keeps the air clean even when you sleep . i can try to make you a design suggestion and see more of what i am writing you, but i will need some specific measurements of the room (height- distance from the wall to the window and to the corner and after to the door , i assume that is where the master-bedroom bath is . I find it helps no end so would really recommend it if you can do it. It gives you a much better feel for the space - so where furniture would work, how much head room you have when standing at certain items and of course how lighting can affect the space. With the suite I showed you above in the planning stages of the project I added scale people to the model to show head heights and usability which may also help when you produce your model (or have it done).

So... managed to find time to discuss it late last night, and we definitely like the idea of being able to make bed 3 larger. I've taken it slightly further in some ways but less in others to try and minimise the cost hopefully as bf thinks that regardless of what we do, it'll end up being prohibitively expensive to re-organise upstairs. This plan would : Keep doorways off the landing to bed 2/3 the same as they are currently (I appreciate the benefits of moving them in terms of not having it right at the top of the stairs, however there's still room for a stair gate at the top of the stairs (should we ever need one), and has never been a problem for us since we've been here regardless of who's stayed (almost 6 years). Removing your study area - we have a separate office/mancave downstairs, and I always work at the dining table even when I had an office space if doing work at home, allowing us to have a bigger family bathroom (maybe a pocket door) with hopefully room for a bath and walk in shower? (as actually the 2 bathrooms we'd be joining are quite compact!) Still quite a small landing area, which I appreciate is useful for general circulation space, but we'd be reluctant to cut into bed 3 more than we have to, and there'd be just enough room I think to have a small window which would hopefully make it feel more airy at least. FYI the pink line I've added is where we get full height ceilings back, as the front half of bed 2/3 mostly have sloped ceilings, except for where the dormers are, but they drop to about waist height at the front. The back wall of the ensuite would be the current back wall of the ensuite again to help reduce costs... Ideally I'd have preferred to creep it forward an extra 10-20cm to give that room to bed 3, however I think for such a small distance it's probably not worth having to knock down, and build another wall. What do people think? ? Obviously would still need to ask builders re cost etc and bf thinks I'm getting hopes up and it'll cost too much... (Anyone got any rough thoughts how much it might be?) but I did point out we could fit most of the bathroom stuff at a later date.
