Need help with our house layout
Comments (12)Hi everyone, thanks for all the ideas! Oneplan I've attached the rest of the house plan below. Don't know anything about macerators - a quick google seems to come up with a world of hate though...! Bookworm987 I'm just not sure about the valuation of the property with 5bed vs 4bed with ensuite. I've looked everywhere to try and get a definitive answer but struggling! I'm just wondering if once you get to a 4 bed house people expect an ensuite, and don't really have a need for a 5th bedroom? But as I said... no conclusive evidence that I can find! I do love the sound of a hidden wardrobe-ensuite though! Thanks again...See MoreGet your creative juices flowing – 1970’s bungalow
Comments (9)Hello Blade40, I like your ideas.. I too would build out from the utility/garage side to join the exterior of the living room to create one big space which you can divide with glass doors in areas.. - a gr8 idea! Maybe it's a glass side return? For internal division, you can also consider panels that slide to form a wall decorated to suit the room. Screens or semi permanent structures such as wooden slatted dividers as a means to section areas or screen off kitchen or other functional aspects of the home.. Thing to consider is budget? How much? and also spatially the garden- It looks quite big and so as I want to suggest some other ideas.. Think of your materials.. Think how you want your home to blend with the landscape.. Think of the environment... Southern California vibe is gr8! You can achieve the same kind of feel.. Open landscape and sea air, textures, light... chalky paints and layering.. Pale creams and stone colours for the exterior with creams and off whites in the interior. Consider natural materials for flooring Cork, Jute, Coir, Sisal carpeting or rugs.. Painted floorboards if there are any.. Large plants and plenty of open vistas! How you mix your materials for the facade of the house could also add to it's aesthetic splendour.. Woods, concrete textural cladding, earthy colours with large earthy stoneware, plants and large leaves... Landscaping and architectural features.. Garden landscaping too and split levels.. Internally.. Boho chic or Modern lounge luxury? :))...See Morehelp: our house needs a new layout

Comments (36)Hi there! I’d love to hear what you are using the under the stair spaces for. It looks like the bike could fit under the stairs near main entrance comfortably. You then could use the current bike area for the utility i.e. muddy stuff mops and sports equipment. As such you would need to install shelves to add on the storage space. I’d like to agree with Minipie that, if you really love for the bike area to remain as is, as I feel you might, the next best position for the utility is in the basement. The basement offers several advantages as compared to hiving off a space on G.F, especially when you consider the available space which you’d require to store all the stuff you said. I imagine sports equipment for example would need quite a generous area. I like the idea of a cosier retiring area for the library and I would really recommend an alterations for that. As for a pantry usable from the kitchen, options look really limited but I’d know what you think about moving the toilet across to the opposite void area, and then converting the new space to a pantry. It’s both proximal to the kitchen island, and will also not complicate the plumbing process, since you also want to introduce a sink in there. Hope this is useful!
