Mmmm this is a tricky one and as usual I have lots of questions first. Don’t suppose you have a photo of how the room looked before you switched things around? If not, can you give us an idea. Is it a double bed? And can that single (?) blow up bed that’s propped up against the wall fit under the bed? Is that a cupboard or an en suite in the corner?

Annoyingly enough no I don't have any pics of the old set up 🥲 The bed is a double and when it was set up the old way there was barely enough space to walk round it - onlyy 56cm and felt v cramped.

All the furniture was against one wall (where the blowup mattress is currently). in this order: mirror, dresser, bed and then bedside table

Now the bed is pushed against one wall, leaves access to the inbuilt cupboard (other side) and there's loads of space at the end of the bed.

The mattress against the wall will be moved.

The open door next to the mirror is entry into the bedroom.

The closed door is entry to the ensuite.

Not confusing at all, very helpful. So I take it the bed doesn’t fit across the room from where the chest of drawers is, to the window? If you pulled the bed forward a little, in its current position, then moved it to the right into the little corner where the blow up bed is, that would give you a little more room by the mirrored wardrobe and you may have room for a tallboy behind the bed, facing the wardrobe? And if you did that you could place a lamp on top so you could read in bed. At first I thought your bed could go in the corner where the bedside table currently is but then I saw the radiator and covering that up is obviously no good. How deep is the alcove next to the en-suite? Would your chest of drawers fit there, or a narrow set? What’s all the stuff on your corner shelves?

So the bed would fit across the room from where the chest of drawers is. That's actually where it used to be positioned. However there was very little clearance to walk round, it cut the room in half and lying in bed felt claustrophobic compared to how open and spacious it feels now.

Tall boy suggestion is a good idea as it meets the need for additional storage however if I move the bed down I'm going to struggle to get a desk in and I really need that.

I'm thinking of removing the open shelving unit. The chest of drawers could fit there but they'd also cover part of the window (up to handle).

Thanks for explaining that. So how about you move your bed to the place where the blow up is, place a tallboy behind the bed head, buy a fairly narrow desk for in front of the window, take down the corner shelves and leave the chest of drawers where it is. If the alcove next to the en-suite ie ‘behind your open bedroom door’ is deep enough you can ask a joiner to add shelves for books and storage baskets.

Perhaps I didn’t explain the bed position properly - I meant just move your bed slightly forward towards your en-suite by about 10cm and slightly closer to the window by about 10cm so it fits into the niche and you have a bit more room between the bed and the wardrobe. As far as colour goes I would suggest you look at ideason Houzz find what appeals to you personally.

It would be good to have a floorplan with dimensions. The bed looks too big for the room.
