Hi Laura. Congratulations on the new home! Have you thought about putting the sofa on the back wall and moving the TV to where the sofa is? I think it would work nicely with the shelves. You can then add a floor lamp and picture gallery on the back wall similar to what's pictured with a tall potted plant in the other corner to make a nice focal point. I'd go for a pale grey For the walls, dulux dusted moss 2 is nice but check undertones with your sofa. Your dining chair looks more of a deep coral so would bring a little in for cushions (maybe white and coral patterned to lighten the sofa) and also some texture, a faux sheepskin is always good for a scandi look. You could then add splashes of green or blue for art etc. Some faux stems would be great on the dining table (I like cox and cox's eucalyptus in their glass bottle vase for something simple and they give height). Hard to tell from table pics but could you add an arc light to zone the dining area as you don't have any ceiling lights? Your kitchen looks great, I have to admit if it were mine though I'd be tempted to paint it a soft white and remove some of the wall units and have some shelves instead.

Would your dining table fit in the kitchen? If not then the top section to the left of the living room is the next option. Where is the tv aerial point or does that not matter? Does the fireplace work and do you want to use it? The study position has obviously been carved out of the living space. I think I would want to reinstate it as a living room. I would put the sofa in the section with the doors to the garden along the wall. We have room dimensions but no idea of furniture sizes. It would be helpful to have them.

I am not sure about your budget but due to layout below can be best layout. I am not professional so don't have access to drawing n all, so hope below make sense: 1 ) Move radiator to right of Fireplace (toward window) & go for Vertical radiator style. Many nice art deco style available under £200. Attached screen shot. This may take most your budget but other cosmatic stuff you can go for FB market, Car boot fair, local old furniture shop. Lots of bargain. You will be surprise what u can find. Saying from my experience. Old is Gold. 2) Remove cupboards on both side of Fire place 3) Move TV to Window bay on nice Corner style TV Table. 4) L shaped Sofa opposite direction 5) Have large plant on right side of window in corner 6) Add small tub style chair next to it. (to the left of door) 7) I like one Dark wall. choose nice colour, apply to wall behind Sofa. From right side of door to corner but not on wall on both sides of fireplace. This way it will not be in eye but will give wow factor as u entered room. And go for warm white in rest of the room. You will have colour half n Half in door wall. 8) Add nice big wall art on top of sofa. Wall opposite Window. 9) Add Small nested table to left of Fireplace & Another plant. 10) Choose nice big carpet to go in middle. Should go under Sofa 11) For storage, add Storage coffee table & Old style Trunk

Depending on the natural light and the way the rooms are orientated I would choose one of the spaces for an adult lounge with a sofa, armchair or two and the tv. I would use the other half for a built in bookcase, a large rug for childrens play and some toy storage. You could include an armchair or two. Is there a radiator on one of the walls in the dining room and are you using the fireplace? Loads of potential. I think I would try and keep the child's play area very tidy and minimal. It also needs to be practical. What is the current flooring?
