reconfiguring of a floor plan

Just in the process of purchasing this dated bungalow. Thinking of extending at front to increase bedroom size. The existing kitchen will eventually be a bedroom and the dining room, 3rd bedroom and conservatory will eventually be open play living kitchen dining area. Open to suggestion and opinions for a better layout out, more space required in the bedrooms so may have to extend out front.

I quiet agree with the plan as it give clear zoning of where the sleeping and communal area are consentrated

however I would advise to add window on the current living, previous dining room and on the side of study room for more natural light

The current window on study room Will be closed if your plan commence

And the top right corner floorplan is perfect for kitchen as it has many wall surface for cabinet and you can keep the current side door access for taking grocery inside directly

My first thoughts were to make the current living room an ensuite master bedroom by utilising the window within the current porch, so to do this i would remove the chimney and porch and make your entrance where the bathroom currently is and the current inner hall an ensuite to the master. Bed 2 becomes a wc and small study. The kitchen becomes bed 3 with ensuite.

A wide hall (perhaps with a utility cupboard)

between beds 3 and 1 leading down to a full width extension across the rear with pitched roof.

Jonathan, moving the bathroom as you have was actually Plan A but I got cold feet about the cost of moving the bathroom although I loved the idea of a line of sight from front door to back garden. We only roughly sketched it and having seen your beautiful floorplan I am thinking we’ll regret it if we compromise instead. The bungalow looks so much more balanced than it does at present and has a flow to it, which it currently completely lacks. Thank you so much for taking the time to draw it up so nicely :) love the addition of a cupboard in hallway to bedrooms and one in entrance hall as Rinq latterly suggested (completely agree on need for this Rinq) and access to toilet from garden - have 3 year old and 10 week old so very necessary, as is catching the mud before it comes indoors! Can I just ask, on the right hand side of kitchen is that recessed cupboards? Ps. You got the layout of our sofas bang on ;D

How about putting the cinema room where the office and WC were planned? Then add in WC on right (where cinema sofa was planned for) and then have a study space on the left - creating an open hallway between study and WC through to the extension? Study would have to be more of a cupboard really - desk with shelves above, with doors that can close at the end of the day to hide all the mess - more of a homework/computer station than a proper home office. Think you've got to decide whether you want a proper office or a cinema room, as walking through cinema room would be a negative for me. Or is there enough space in current dining room to section off the left side of it for hallway to extension and leave enough space on the right for cinema (or study and shower/WC)?

@Jonathan great floor plans. Prefer second option. Particularly the desk area. I would suggest a nice L shaped couch and not much else aside from dining chairs. The room is small and you don't want to be avoiding chairs everywhere. Re your concerns on the toilet - houses and flats all over London position downstairs WC under stairs. The fall under the floor is usually sufficient for the 4inch pipe to exit the building. It's a project for sure and I would suggest you get a builder who specialises in kitchen / bathrooms. Good Luck! @Jonathan I have today posted a layout concern pre planning application. We used a junior friend architect who is great but the layout is really my inspiration - eek!! Personally I think if you are going to extend you should replace the conservatory with an all year round space.
