Thank you for your reply!! I see what you mean..the only problem with this is that the painting would not feel like its in the center of the room but rather offset to the left . Which when looking at the photo, isn't really noticeable and only obvious in person

as long as the painting not overlaps with the panel,

some use round mirrors or artworks

some place lean sideboard under it but if you dont want to cover the wainscoting or too cluttered you dont need to

Thanks Devyra! I've explored what you said aswell. The idea of having a console is something that's not entirely down to me. We have a dog and loves to run around, so the idea of adding more furniture is not something I'm totally entertaining (adjacent walls already has a console and mirror and a small seating.) having said that, with the help of AI, I thought I'd share with you what it could look like

I think if you’re having symmetrical panelling then what’s above would be better symmetrical unless you’re having an asymmetrical gallery wall etc so treat it as you would furniture against a wall. My vanity is not centred to my bathroom panelling which drives me nut and there was no reason for it

That’s just my opinion though, do what works for you!

two console in adjacent walls is not advised

usually if theres existing console i suggest use shoe rack on the part near enterance door and move the console in inner rooms

or add lean low bookshelves and use ikea storage box to make it closed storage for their toys and snacks

other alternatives is lean ottoman or minimalist bench where pets like to jump on it

but if your priority is lots of running area its okay not to place furniture there

Centre the art on the wall, not the room. The 4 section panelling looks better, and I like the wall light on either side. The panelling doesn't work with a wall hung console imo.
