Hello everyone, Need help uplifting the exterior of our house, I would love half cladding and half rendering but don't know what would look good with red roof tiles and white windows.
Personally I would do smooth render and paint the wood slats a heritage colour and splurge on the garden and drive. It's a beautiful house and I wouldn't make it look like something that it isn't. I also think there's a return to 'classic' after the disastrous grey trend. A smart fence, drive and architectural planting would be my choice. As you say the roof tiles kind of determine the look.
I agree that the architecture has been set. Don’t try and change the proportions. You can however elevate it by replacing the render with smooth render. Changing the render colour may help the look. A pale but not white choice will help the white windows stand out. With a red roof I prefer neutrals with a green quality.
Separately you could paint the render a dramatic dark colour
