I would add to the above that the bay window above the former garage looks "blind" and would look better with glazing bars to match the other bays on the house. The garage conversion window is oddly proportioned and might look better split into two, or three, separate windows with piers between them. If you don't need all the paving (I know parking is always at a premium so you might) you could remove a few sections of it to get some planting in. If not some nice raised planters with evergreen shrubs in would soften the expanse.

I am with many commenters on the oak porch idea and maybe rendering the brick section also. I think that would look really stunning! Definitely get rid of the odd door if there is no practical use for it. I also think white windows would probably freshen the place up quite a bit and help it look a little less dated but still with plenty of character. It really is a beautiful space to work with! Lovely property! Also grab a couple tall trees in nice pots for either side of the porch it always adds a touch of grandeur and elegance!

For privacy I would suggest a small tree, although it will lose its leaves in winter but you will still have the branches for some privacy. Something like a Rowan, Crab Apple, Apple tree or a Hawthorn. The design is very square so maybe a circular lawn, incorporating some paving for the furniture and make wider beds for more planting. Edge the lawn with pavers as this stops it growing outwards. More planting alone will make a huge difference.
