You could play it safe by choosing cushions in cream or grey to tie in with your rug but if your wanted more of a contrast then ochre or gold might look good. Are you considering changing the wall colour too?
Perhaps a feature wall where the window is, would break up the heaviness of the dark green by adding a softer green. Add a piece of art on that wall with the fan. Add a 3rd colour to the soft furnishings, one with a colour that pops out, like mustard with an abstract pattern other. Add ornaments books to the coffee table instead of a runner, to give a more contemporary look. The picture below is just a simplified alternative to your existing layout. Don’t be afraid to add more layers of colours subtly to rug or flowers. Hope that helps? 😊
I would go one step further and paint all the walls in that green. I'd get rid of the floor lamp and get a more lux one in gold or mustard to connect with the cushions. Hide the air conditioner with a wall treatment, and hang a chandelier from the middle of the room above the coffee table. Find a printed bench, ottoman or chaise in the mustard colour to place on the fourth side of the coffee table. And fill the room with lots of potted plants! :D
