So, we have a 1950's bungalow. Big plot. Most on street are being bought and turned in to big 4 bed houses. We want to keep single storey and submitted plan for L shaped split level wrap around extension, which much to our surprise has been turned down.
Official line is "The proposed extension, due to its flat roof design with the proposed eaves
siting at a much higher level than the existing dwelling's eaves, it would result in an
incongruous addition to the existing dwelling. The use of the contrasting finishing
materials would exacerbate its bulk and would appear jarring when viewed east of
X , resulting in adverse harm to the visual amenity of the streetscene. "
We don't want to lose the overall modern feel, we are aiming scandi/organic modern vibes. We can lower a little ( original height shown as pink line) dropped as in plan but they still dont like how it ties in, would like a contrasting Brick finish as main bungalow will be rendered.
Just wondered if anyone had any ideas other than stick a pitch on itor go up to two floors...
Thanks
