Hi, This looks like such a wonderful place to work from. How will work ever be done? These can be easy to start with and you can clad the outside and give it a cabin feeling. Depending on the size you choose you might end up with a generous working space. Also a tipi like building made of wood or cladded in wood. With a view like that consider glass, creating an as wide as possible view. My last suggestion is http://hivehaus.co.uk They were shown on George Clarks, Amazing spaces and it looked really good. The idea of this modular space is that you can just 'slip' in additional space as and when needed. I get what you mean by the lack of coziness. Looking at the picture your room actually has a lot of potentials! I understand that you just want to reposition the furniture now, but would you consider getting some other soft furnishings, or another rug? Textures would definitely help the warm ness. Consider adding some lighting as well. You could make use of the space below the stairs by adding floor cushions, or a small side table so it can be a reading/quiet corner, lower the picture frame and the decoration would also help.
