Should I paint my kitchen cabinets?
Comments (159)Hi there. Completely agree with everyone, you should paint the cupboards. I really like the colours in this picture as I think that the slightly 'greyer' off white cupboards would tie in well with your beautiful grey tiles. You wouldn't necessarily have to go so light on your worktop as in this picture. The laminate you showed in your third picture is really nice, where is it from? Currently doing my kitchen and trying to find a laminate that I like!...See MoreDark Blue kitchens trend to a end? should I go for something else?
Comments (21)I think it's important to compare when trends begin to when there is a surpless of items to sell in showrooms. The grey trend began to end around 5 years ago (anyone who is on social media would have seen this) but the large quantitiy of grey tiles, kitchens, carpets etc etc are still sitting in warehouses today and therefore need ot be sold. Grey will never go out of fashion, but grey everything will. Ultimately, it's down to rejecting fashion. Lots of companies such as paint companies try to push their green credentials, but they then push the whole concept of 'Colour of the Year' etc and constantly talk about trends. Maria Killam on instagram and Tiktok has done some very blunt and truthful posts about trends to avoid, and how to opt for timeless interiors in order to avoid wasting money. The other side of the arguemtns is that making a house really trendy, can in some instances add a huge amount of value if you're lucky enough to sell at the right time. There's no easy answers!...See MoreHowdens Chelford Shaker Kitchen
Comments (5)We have a Howdens Dove Grey matt finish kitchen with oak worktops and oak floors. Walls are F&B Purbeck Stone, the splashback in Titanium is also from Howdens - it’s water resistant, but NOT heat resistant board - hence the glass behind cooker. There is a north facing window over the sink and south facing French doors at the other end, also glass French doors into the kitchen so the room is usually fairly light. I wouldn’t say that the units every look white, it then the ceiling is painted in F&B Pointing and the woodwork in F&B Shadow White so maybe that affects the light and reflections? I’d really recommend plinth drawers from Howdens - I have one on the drawer unit next to the cooker and keep all my baking tins in it!...See MoreDo Howdens Clerkenwell cabinets stain easily?
Comments (4)don't know who supplies the foil for the clerkenwell supermatt doors that howdens use but one of the features of supermatt as supplied by manufactureres like Fenix and Serica is that their foils have 'anti fingerprint technology', personnally i'd look at a different supplier as the clerkenwell door is only a 19mm cut and edged door which is thin for a J profile handleless door. most J profile doors are 22mm thick so you have a decent sized finger groove and the back of the handle is thicker so you can't snap it. personnally i'd have a look at the Lucente door by TKC which is a painted matt door with some stock colours [light grey, indigo blue] as well as a choice of another 30 or more paint to order colours....See More- last month
