Comments (8)I agree that brilliant white is too much of a contrast especially since the kitchen cabinets are a grey with a brown undertone. So I would search the Farrow and Ball site for inspiration paying particular attention to their explanations of the colour. Personally (having now seen the space) I like All White, Strong White and Cornforth White to complement the blue in the living area and blue kitchen accents such as a rug/ blind/ accessories. Given how contemporary the kitchen is I don’t think it will suit painting the cabinets and personally I think a soft white glass splashback or grey or bronzed mirror would be a cleaner look than the metro tiles (although I think the metro tiles will also go)....See MoreToo blue? Comments (14)Agree with Campo 73 and Tamp 75... I would paint all the walls ‘Woad’, as I think a room can often look unfinished with only one wall painted in a dark colour (unless you find the perfect complementary colour for the other walls). We painted all the walls in our North Facing living room and dining room ‘Hague Blue’... In the dining room we even went ‘Hague Blue’ on the ceiling and I love it! Having said that, we mainly use these rooms in the evenings and intended for them to be cosy and dark for this reason. The door to the living room is painted ‘Peignoir’ which I think goes beautifully with dark blues... You may want to consider it for your other walls if you don’t want ‘Woad’ on all four?...See MoreF&B Breakfast Room Green in a breakfast room. Too much?
Comments (35)Firstly, Happy New Year fellow Houzzers! Hope 2019 is happy, healthy and generally good for everyone. Want to again pass my thanks to you all for all the responses, advice and inspiration. Without you I don't think we would have got to where we have with the room. As you may have guessed, I am updating the thread because we have finished it (mostly!). The jury is still out on painting the dresser as I don't want 'matchy-matchy' so I am going to live with it for a while as it is. We absolutely love the room and it is beautiful in the morning light. The wallpaper is the Sanderson Chiswick Grove Sage, the paneling and skirting is in F&B Breakfast Room Green eggshell, the ceiling in a pure trade white with the doors and cupboard in F&B James White eggshell. All the woodwork too 4 coats to cover the sanded orange varnish. :( The curtains are the old Ikea things we had up so I need to decide on what to replace them with (they got paint on them so need to go). My lovely sister gave me a really nice brass chandelier so the old light will go too. Also thinking about a jute/sisal rug for under the table, anything patterned would be too much I think. At some point I will replace the black Ikea lamps too. But at the moment they are doing a job. I don't want the lighting to be too old fashioned as the room would go a bit chintzy I think. Hence the lamps on the sideboard looking a bit more modern. Here are some pics if you are interested. :) Cheers all. :)...See MoreHallway too dark for black?
Comments (31)I like the colour but we have very similar carpet in our lounge and I hate it. It’s being ripped up in a few months. Because of the texture it went to look scruffy very quickly - lots of pulls in it and difficult to clean ☹️ Definitely wouldn’t recommend if you have pets either...See More- last monthlast modified: last month
