I want to make roman blinds out of curtains to match a blind.
Comments (5)For my first roman blind I used a roman blind kit from Dunelm, worked out great. I then used those instructions to go on to make a further 12 (never buy a house with 5 sided bay windows!) and purchased the bits needed from terrysfabrics as mentioned by Catherine Byrne. They are really straightforward. The key is to take your time with your measurements/calculations and with ensuring your edges and rod pockets are straight....See MoreDilemma Bottom Up Blinds - trickle vent issue
Comments (2)Hi Sophie, I've just found this and just wanted to go back to clear a few things up. Firstly, I'm sorry your advisor seemed defeatist - if you'd like to provide any other feedback, do feel free to drop us a message. Unfortunately, as your advisor said, it doesn't look like PerfectFit blinds are suitable for your windows. This is a system-wide problem with PerfectFit blinds themselves, as they are made specifically for uPVC windows. The reason for this is a difference in seal and depth between frame and glazing between uPVC and aluminium windows and doors. As for the trickle vents, your advisor would have been trying to find a suitable bracket location. It only takes one window for this to be an issue as you will of course have wanted all the windows to match. The inward opening window also causes a problem with the recess options, so although it wasn't quite what you were looking for, blinds fitted outside the recess are probably your best bet. Did your advisor show you the option of a casette on a Roller blind? This is a neat way to hide the blinds. Alternatively, options like Pleated blinds fold up really neatly to take up very little space. Hope that clears things up, and please let me know if you'd like any further advice, Zoe...See Moreblinds and curtains blinds and curtains
Comments (4)Hello. I'm not sure if I am in right place but I just didn't find a topic about DYI windows blinds so maybe it would be useful not only for me. I and my wife after a year finally finished our home rework. Of course, there still is a lot of work to do, but at least now we can live there :huray: . The first thing that annoys us a lot is disturbing morning sun. We can't get enough sleep, because of it. So we started looking for windows blinds. So far we decided that we want roller blinds. But after long research, we find out that there is an option to get customized blinds and even create our own. There is one of the links where you can do it: https://www.blindsonwindows.com/diy-roller-blinds. So now there is a question, is anyone has tried it, or something similar and maybe could share their thoughts about quality and is it even worth it?...See MoreWindow Blind Dilemma
Comments (5)Shutters would look amazing. You could get them in a light grey colour if you wanted to. We had the same issue with our bay window creating a lot of glare onto the TV. We initially had blackout rollers but it felt so odd sitting there on a lovely sunny day with the rollers down, just to avoid the glare on the TV. Eventually we accepted the expense and had shutters installed, which we love! We can angle the shutters to reduce the glare but still let light in. The other benefits include privacy and they also make the bay window look very smart from the outside. You could have full height or half height cafe style (although half height would probably still leave you with a glare issue). On days when you want the lovely sash windows to be visible, you could have the shutters themselves fully open. Lots of options!...See More- 9 days agolast modified: 9 days ago
