A place for everything and everything in its place. A good kitchen designer will take account of who uses the kitchen and how they use it. By having a well planned out kitchen, easy to use storage drawers & larders and storage accessories such as plate holders, dividers, cutlery trays etc all help to make the kitchen easier to use and keep tidy. Worktop features like roller shutters or worktop sliding doors also help hide the kettles, toasters, mixers - the stuff that usually clutters a kitchen. Paper towel, tinfoil & clingfilm holders all serve a useful purpose as well. We often find that many kitchen companies omit a lot of these essential accessories until after the kitchen contract is signed and then sell them as an add on. Also - remember - if you are messy then make sure you select materials that are easy to clean and tend not to stain. In worktops;quartz, corian and dekton are all great materials which are non porous so difficult to stain. For your door fronts - certainly high quality laminate is probably one of the most robust and cleaning friendly materials you can get as well as being the most price friendly. best of luck

Not entirely sure what you’re after - is this just for food storage, or extra storage for dishes etc. some of which you could display? What’s your style? There is the pull out larders like Carolina has suggested, and bespoke breakfast units. There are also freestanding larder cupboards like this. John Lewis, M&S and Laura Ashley all sell them, plus there are loads of smaller companies who can make them to your design in colour of your choosing.

We have a single knob on a full height, single door fridge & on a same size freezer & never had any problems. Not sure of exact size but def no bigger than 40mm - prob smaller. We have smaller knobs on other doors & it’s not noticeable at all.

Hi Susan, Thanks for the additional information. As others have indicated, 1000mm wide (or occasionally 1200 wide) tend to be the maximum for singe unit, double door pantry units as an "off the shelf" configuration - this is due to the typical maximum door width being 600 wide, above which you can have structural issues. You can get wider - usually though only as top/bottom split pantries, and then with bifold doors on each side, but you are usually hitting another price point. DIY are generally amongst the most competitve on raw price - they are a "stack it high, sell it cheap" operation who do all they can to squeeze every ounce of cost out of their direct-to-customer operation. As a result, however, the onus is on you for everything - ensuring the design fits, is fit for purpose etc. You therefore take on all design, fit & installation risk, and if things go awry, then the remedial hassles (and costs) sit firmly with you. If you are comfortable managing all of this, then you can potentially grab a bargain - as long as you execute well! Their internal options do tend to be rather basic and as far as I can see, theil larder is plain shelves. Regarding your options - sometimes to build up to the sort of width you have to play with, you can opt either for 2x 800 wide pantries, or a 1000w plus another 500 or 600 - the image below was an installation we did with a butler's pantry flanked by a fridge freezer (1000 & 600 wide respectively). Or a 1000w flanked on either side by a 400w unit - either in plain shelves (to keep costs down) or with internal drawers. Just awaiting confirmation on the offers I mentioned, but with that particular offer and depending on configuration, the list price for various Butler's Pantries with "fancier" internals should certainly be in the range you seek. It can still vary quite a bit - the more fancy internals you have (wicker baskets, solid oak door racks etc), the higher it would be. Do you already have a design you are looking to use?
