Living room ideas
Hi all,
We’re looking for some help pulling our living room together and would really value your ideas.
Context
We’ve recently bought a new sofa (green), which is here to stay — it’s not something we’re looking to replace. The TV cabinet is also staying. So the goal is to design around these two anchor pieces rather than start from scratch.
What we’re looking for
We have budget to update the following and would love specific suggestions:
Rug
Colour, size, and style recommendations (we’re unsure what works best with the green sofa and wood/black TV unit)Coffee table (centre)
Ideally something that works well in a relatively tight space
Storage is important for us (hidden compartments, lift-top, etc.)Side tables
We have limited space, so:- One side needs a slim, narrow table (next to the window/sofa arm), ideally with some storage
- Open to a second side table on the other side: this could be lighter or even without storage
Additional seating
There may be space to add a chair, and we’d love ideas on whether this makes sense and, if so, what type of chair would work without making the room feel crowdedStorage (general)
This is a key priority for us as we’re expanding our family, so we’re trying to be smart about incorporating hidden storage wherever possible without making the room feel bulkySoft furnishings
Cushions, throws, textures — anything that helps tie the space together and soften the lookLighting
We’d love ideas for a nice lamp for the side table near the window that helps bring warmth and cohesion to the room
Constraints / preferences
- Space is somewhat tight, so flow and proportions matter
- We’d prefer a look that feels cohesive, warm, and intentional rather than overly busy
- Open to IKEA / Zara Home / accessible brands
Would really appreciate any ideas, product suggestions, or even rough layouts!
Thanks in advance 🙂
