I like it! Thanks so much for providing this, my partner isn’t a real fan of herringbone and potentially a straight plan may run ok? What flooring have you use for the wood effect please? After you mentioned the table top wood I was looking around and found a nice one by kardean (Basque oak) which I may get a sample of. That one you have designed looks nice though if you wouldn’t mind sharing. Do you think a straight plank will run ok with the room layout?

Both lovely thanks gives a great visual and completely changes the room! We are thinking of painting too, the kitchen colours etc will stay the same. Any suggestions what may go with this type of floor and kitchen colours? Thank you!

Tou could try farrow and ball skimming stone. Little Greene slaked lime mid would be worth a try too but the render wasn’t that accurate. F&B ammonite should work too

This one I Basque oak - Kardean, but maybe a bit too light what’s your thoughts. Lovely grain though!!

Personally, I’d probably keep the flooring the same throughout downstairs. It’ll make the space feel bigger and flow better. A neutral oak herringbone would work nicely with the warm stairs and the cooler grey kitchen.

That said, if you both like different looks, stone-effect LVT in the hall/kitchen and herringbone in the lounge could be a good compromise. I’d just avoid anything too orange or too grey.

Hi Marina, thanks for that. I do like a herringbone design although my partner thinks there’s too much going on. I was wondering if there were any other lay options mother than straight or herringbone. I had some Kardean grey tile samples through although like you say I think grey on grey is too much. I prefer a softer oak finish in. Would you run the floor through the lounge as well as the hall kitchen and diner?

I definitely think the rooms can take chevron or herringbone if your husband can be persuaded. What’s the furthest one away in this pic called? That’s my favourite for the kitchen. i think I’d ignore the front 2 as they’re reading a bit orange

i assume it’s the one just beyond the bottom step in the hall? i’ll see if i can mock it up as not sure it works best with the stairs though

In your photo furthered left is hayfield oak, then neutral brushed oak then Dutch limed oak. Those were our 3 favourite too! Like you say the other 2 are more orange. I know I would like the herringbone design, we’ll see!

I think we’ve decided on the neutral brushed oak. Next room is the lounge 😬. We’ve currently got a dark click lvt down at the moment, I think we’ll end up going with the straight lay plank through the downstairs and the herringbone in the lounge. I think we’ll still go for a dark wood, this is the sample I have at the moment or don’t know whether to go for a Kardean type? What’s every one’s thoughts?!

I'd go with neutral brushed oak in the lounge too.
