I'm trying to layout pictures along my stairs with a similar style but have no idea which pictures to use and how to lay out. I have mostly 8 x 10 pictures (and smaller) in frames so not sure if I should have some pics enlarged to make it more interesting like this.

I had all my photos printed at Costco which gives you the option of some larger prints. Ie: 12x20.
I also mixed up the color with black and white. I also love the look of a smaller print inside a larger frame. I took all the glass out of the frames so there was no glare, and used masking tape.

thanks that helps I'll go to Costco. How did you use the masking tape - to hold the pics in the frames?

Hi Carolina I have these floor tiles and a similar wall colour, and lots of art. My stair carpet is wool and called taupe. I think it works well. I think any of the 3 samples would look equally good. Darker will show every speck of lint though. I will now try and put a photo on. Forgive me if it doesn't work, for being a technophobe, and forgive me if it does for a messy house. Hi Nikhil. What's the actual colour of the cream paint so can attempt to find a granite although it is hard online as colours show differently. I'd also keep upstands in the granite and maybe even the splashback for a clean look. I'm not a pro hence take my comments accordingly (!) and I know you didn't ask for layout advice so I hope you don't me saying but I'm not sure if the sink is in the most practical position as you can't stack dishes next to it etc. I'd also check the safety regs for a gas hob so close to a window as it may potentially be dangerous if the window is open. I'm also not sure where the fridge freezer is in relation to the rest of the kitchen?

Humm, I had a similar colour carpet in an old rented flat years ago. It was a hard one to modernise up really but it was just a bedroom and I ended up using raspberry pink and creams which really lifted it. Also a rug over the carpet in the sofa area could draw your eyes to that and the carpet can just act as a background colour. It depends on your tastes really ie as mentioned, a country floral style would work well with the room itself. But, if you have more contemporary taste or prefer brighter colours then you could even go for a vibrant palate on a more tropical floral theme. Introduce neutral charcoal sofa with tropical cushions in deep greens with the same raspberry pinks etc and use lots of leafy plants in the room and artwork.

We had granite worktop with upstand and no splashback in our previous house and I can honestly say it never bothered me; the painted walls were easy to wipe clean and even refresh with a bit of paint when some stain got stubborn (that happened only once!) The thought of grout in the kitchen terrifies me...! :)) We now have glass for splashback and I think it's the best! (I don't have any better pics of our old kitchen, at the time I wasn't into photographing interiors). My advice is not to go for tiles, just keep it simple and clean. Good luck!

You might be able to get this look too by using mats. Buy larger frames, maybe 11x14's or even larger and use matting in a coordinating color to help from your 8x10 inch photos.

I agree on Costco- great prices for printing and for frames! Yes, definitely use a variety of sizes, but try to create cohesion by using similar frames/matts. I did a similar family gallery wall that also has both black & white and colour. The frames are all black of different thicknesses with crisp white matts. You could always spray paint frames....

Easy way to do the layout---take paper bags, trace your frames that you'll be using onto them, cut them out. Then use tape to move the paper "frames" around until you like the arrangement. Once you like the effect, then hang your frames. Saves unwanted holes in the wall. :)
