Need help choosing where to put the hall way?
Comments (15)Hello again and thank you so so much for all your comments and suggestions. I read all of them and I visited our architect today. This is what we came up with. I think it is also what @nmshea recommended. I think this looks much better and is what we wanted. I just want to mention that we live in Cyprus where it's very hot most of the time so we need the big balconies and double doors. Also the small bedroom will be eventually a kids bedroom and not so much of a guest room but it's not that important now. So this is the plan with the last changes made. What do you think? Do you prefer L-shaped sofa or a 3-seater and a 2-seater? Thanks again to everyone who has commented :)...See MoreHelp making our dark narrow hallway more "finished"
Comments (8)Hi There, Lighting is so important so it would be a great idea to consider using table lamps in different corners if you have available plug sockets. Mirrored or glass lighting as pendant shades would also give off more light and reflection to brighten up your hallway. I would also consider your colour palette. As Tom suggested a bright White or light colour and painting the woodwork would lift the whole space. You could also add some metallic, silver, gold and glass accessories to brighten up the hallway. Comments (14)I agree with the radiator cover idea and I would put a large, very wide, rectangular mirror above it instead of the photographs. I think this would do a much better job of expanding space and creating light than the mirror at the end of the hall (although there's no reason you can't have both). Depending on how it looks with the large mirror I might also remove the thing hanging to the left of the door. In the space in the second photograph I would either remove that photograph in between the door and cabinet on the left or I'd have it in a white frame if you'd really like something there. In the third photograph I like the idea of a collage of frames leading up the stairs, but I find these frames a bit too chunky and rustic looking in that space. I think some white-framed or black-framed photographs would look better like in the above post. There the frames are simple but the photographs themselves inject colour which is carefully chosen and the end result is crisp and fresh and looks fabulous. At the top of the stairs I think one large rectangular print would look better than the two smaller ones....See MoreLow Light Hall Way
Comments (2)Hey Andrew, I'd say your first point of call is some lighting. Whether that's some downlights, fairylights wrapped around the banister or ceiling, getting some extra light in there will serve as the basis for the scheme you want to go for. I'd go for artwork on the right wall - cluster bold prints for an interesting stairwell feature!...See Morecandicenorth
