Log cabin colour dilemma
Comments (7)Are you asking about colours for the outside? I would create a contrast between the doors and windows and the cladding/siding. One option is dark grey windows with off-white cladding. Another would be white or off-white windows with a mid-tone cladding color. Blue-grey or green-grey cladding would make the cabin fade into its surroundings more. Get some pots of paint and experiment! I struggle a bit to find any images but these may help: http://www.newquayplastics.biz/images/custom_made_grey_pvc_windows_%26_blue_glass_1a812.jpg?width=792&height=294 http://dellacooks.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Cloud-Street-Residence-exterior-patio-with-Gunmetal-1602-Paint-timber-siding-and-stone-pavers-walk-way-also-light-wood-patio-timber-deck-design-ideas-1024x681.jpg http://www.timber-cladding.co.uk/media/images/gallery/large/shepperd-hut-rebated-cladding-03.jpg...See MoreFence and Decking Colour
Comments (13)I think a winding path with shrubs and tall grasses at intervals would be lovely in your garden, and give a feeling of "what's around the corner?". If you are painting I would make the back of the garden and one fence side darker to create some width and depth. The other side could be a lighter colour like the blue or even bright orange if you want to blend with your neighbour's. I used Cuprinol Shades in Willow on one of my boundaries and it is beautiful winter and summer as a backdrop to planting , and in its own right. Don't use cheap stuff , you will rue the day when you have to repaint it all again because of flaking. A good quality paint in a couple of ciates will last 3 to 5 years. If you don't load the brush too much at the creases you will avoud runs going through the other side. Oil your deck once a year with a natural or lightly coloured deck stain and it will last and look beautiful . Enjoy...See MoreLiving room design ideas
Comments (19)That’s a great idea celery girl. I like that the light is diffused over many bulbs. I’ don’t really like the sconces because I wouldn’t find them relaxing. When I saw the pics I thought I’d rather see them changed to picture lights which would be an indirect light and give opportunity for some art to soften the space. And regarding curtains, I think perhaps there isn’t room for curtains to hang and that the shutters are lovely. Personally I’d be tempted to take the fire place wall colour over the other walls....See MorePaint colour for veranda & fencing?
Comments (43)@Sonia Yes! Called Bluebell on the can - it was a choice between that or cream. Not much variety available at the moment. I'm not sure if I'll use the same colour on the other door - it depends what state it's in after I sand it down. I had to fit a new sill, paint it at least three times with Sadolin (which takes 24 hours to dry per coat), find hardwood to replace the rotten wood , fit it, etc. It has been a marathon job. The inside is now white satinwood to match the paintwork in the kitchen. I still need to find and paint and fit a new riser, do something for the dog flap, fit the draught excluder and weather stripping, and seal the whole thing....See MoreEncore Construction
