Need help with my bathroom
Comments (7)I have just gone through this process. My plumber and the specialist tiler each made the same points: (1). Around the "heavy water flow" areas, mosaics are higher risk. The weakest point for water getting in is the grouting. If you use small tiles, you maximise the chances of water damage simply because there is more grouting. (2). Very large wall tiles make their lives more difficult. I used huge wall tiles (90cm X 30cm) and they both said that those very large tiles are more difficult to ensure a completely flat surface. The plastered walls are never completely flat and even and it is easier to adjust adhesive levels with more regular sized tiles. Not a reason to avoid massive tiles (although they seem to be more expensive) but just be aware. On the upside, there are fewer grout lines, so less likely to get water damage! (3). If you get a heavily textured tile surface, it is much more difficult to get a really clean tile cut when they need to trim them. Can result in higher wastage as a result. So, overall, I'd avoid mosaics other than as a trim in bath or shower areas. To keep costs down and make the job faster, go for a smooth wall tile no bigger than 60x40cm. Or ignore all this and go for what you love!...See MoreNeed help with my bathroom
Comments (4)Why not make the window your mirror? You can buy it per meter from eBay, self adhesive mirror that you would normally put to the outside so people can't see in from outside, you would just have to put it on the other way round so your morrow was facing inside, it will give you a mirror and privacy, or if it's double glazing you can get mirror cut for the inside plain....See MoreNeed help for my bathroom paint colour

Comments (9)Hi, As others have suggested, white or grey tiles would work really well - if you love the metro tile look then the large ones you've seen in B&Q aren't the only size available. Our most popular selling metro tile is this style: I can't recall the name of these off the top of my head and our tiling expert has just gone home! however these metro tiles are very well suited when paired with a dark grey grout....See MoreLondon Contemporary
