There's a spider in the room.... what do you do?
Comments (54)September and in they all come trying to freeload on my central heating. It's my house, I didn't invite them, so I'm afraid they must die! I used to feel a bit bad about it, but then I thought about how they catch their prey, leave them to slowly die and then eat them and felt completely exonerated of all guilt! They're utterly revolting....See MoreWhat to do with his garden?
Comments (8)Wow! Massive project but will also look amazing. I'm confused by the two levels with the concrete wall down the middle - would this come out? Or is it necessary? I would ruthlessly strip out all plants there currently with one exception -the tree with the white blossom - that could be something quite lovely and it is always nice in a garden to have one old tree (if it's a nice one) Big question, are you going to level the garden? (Rather a costly question....!) If so, then you'd best do it now! And get rid of that wall down the middle too. Next, I'd plant a quick growing hedge across the back fence and along the fence by the glass houses - try this website - https://www.hedgesdirect.co.uk/acatalog/griselinia_littoralis.html. This particular hedge is what I'm thinking of. I'd also get some good hardy evergreen creepers for the long fence to green that up. - Ivy is cheap and easy to grow. Another that grows well is honeysuckle and smells beautiful when flowering. Now time to make borders, mowing strips and plant grass or weed and feed any that you have left and then decide what other plants you want in your garden. That is almost another chapter with such a big garden..... Hope this is some help?...See MoreNeed help with pine drawers
Comments (9)I would go with sanding with an orbital sander to start, with nothing coarser than 120or 150 grit, finish with a fine grit on a belt sander following the grain. Orbital sanders leave circular scratches which are visible at some angles. As an alternative you can finish by raising the grain with an abrasive filament wheel (http://www.silverlinetools.com/en-GB/Products/Power%20Tool%20Accessories/Filament%20Brushes/218250) once again folowing the grain, finish with a varnish of your choice, Danish oil, Tung oil or a good beeswax finish. If you want to change the colour of the wood (darker) then use a wood dye, everythng called a stain nowadays is some type of varnish with usually a finely powdered colour in it, quicker but limited to brilliant, satin or matt, whereas with a dye you can apply the finish of your choice. http://www.jpennyltd.co.uk/shopping/start.php?browse=1&cat=25 Be sure to mask and cover the painting below that you have already done. If you have dents in a wood surface as opposed to scratches it is often possible to bring them out with one or two goes over with a steam iron with a piece of rag between. DO NOT try this on varnished or French polished wood only bare....See MorePainting pine furniture
